I love the starry zeblet! Reminds me of a whale shark. It’s also interesting, as one of the panda commenters observes, that it seems to imply an answer to whether zebras are white with black stripes or black with white stripes.

Are zebras white with black stripes or black with white stripes? Greg Barsh, MD, PhD, is the resident expert on animal morphology at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, and he has a definitive answer. “Zebras are black with white stripes.”
How is he so sure?
Barsh explains, “The reason we know that is…some of the early work we did on zebras was a collaboration with an owner of a zebra. We visited her once, and we asked her that exact same question.”
The collaborator shaved a little hair away and revealed that zebras have completely black skin.
It’s funny what you can learn if you ask the right questions of the right people.

Either way I feel like we’re about to have a special zoo edition of the Maury show.

Only 12 left! Habitat destruction or human greed?
That is one…slow…walk with the turtle!

Well if you had such a great hat you’d want to show it off, too.

Now I want a giant tortoise with a tiny hat.

I think the tortoise’s hat is bigger than the hitchhiker. And double squee on the list of unusual animals. Talk about diversity in nature but some of them look like they came from the imaginations of a mad scientist/magician and some look like your worst nightmare. Tiger twins, twice as much cuteness!
