And finally: I Think You Dropped This
Readers AJ and A9 share an amazing moment when a zoo elephant returns a dropped shoe.
I think you mean…”Yes, we have no bananas.”
Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I knew this animated short existed?
(If you’ve never encountered “alligator pears” before, that’s another name for avocados.)
Thank you—was confused. But…makes sense!
How about viewing your knowledge of animated shorts as encyclopedic and leaving it at that? I, for one, will never forget watching apple cores dancing.
And now I’m thinking of other meanings for “animated shorts”! 🙄
I don’t think I have an encyclopedic knowledge of anything, really. My brain is more like a massive cache of occasionally useful things and useless shiny objects picked up at random.
I had never seen this. My mom literally has a song for everything, and she taught me this song. I’m a history major, so I also have my own old songs/old references for a lot of things. When I was working as a teaching assistant, the college kids would look at me funny.
Many of my friends and I speak “ Folkspeak” with a song for everything. It’s a way of life for so many of us. I had occasion to sing with my then singing partner a whole set of banana songs outside of a place called something like “The Banana Cafe” – and, of course we did this song. And I had a Carmen Miranda hat and we threw bananas to the audience.
I would have loved to have seen your act, it sounds fabulous!
I, too, have a Song for Every Occasion. Mostly standards from the Great American Songbook, but all kinds of other stuff, too.
Can you imagine audiences singing along out loud with a cartoon in a movie theatre these days? I can’t.
Never knew where this came from! We used to sing the beginning and ending as kids in the ‘70s.
Can I hug the kittens, too?
Who knew cows like the beach?
Yay for hero doggos and helpful heffalumps!
Route the monkey is too cute.
Capybara!
Teared up a little about the senior kitty.
My parents were scared about getting a kitten for that reason so I promised that I would take it if something happened.
And now I have a demon with siamese points who terrorizes my old lady cat and flirts shamelessly with strange men.
After my cats died I felt I was too old to take on any more animals. I was afraid I’d die and leave an animal abandoned. That young woman is providing a wonderful service.
Mike is ON FIRE today with hilarious headlines and hovers.
I saw the heffalump yesterday, after one of yesterday’s videos. Meant to send it in, so I’m glad other people made the effort. I would give anything to have an elephant return my shoe.
Sea cows.
Great links today. Monkey’s business had me in stitches. I knew they can be mischevious but calling 911 takes the cake! I’d love to have a cuddle puddle of hugging kittens. Even better if I was in the middle of it.
I hope the kittens get adopted in pairs since they love hugging so much, it would be sad if they ended up all alone.
