I will be leaving promptly at 5pm to go vote and hopefully get home in time for Jeopardy (which hopefully will not get preempted by election “coverage”…polls don’t close until 8 here so there’s not really anything to cover when Jeopardy is on but that might not stop them).

If there is a stoat there that I can pet, that would be nice.

Agreed. Pets would make the process so much nicer. I hope you have a relaxing evening, Allein. Today is my mom’s birthday, so I’m holding out for peace and calm tomorrow.

I hope so, too. Still trying to find an endocrinologist. My mom asked her doctor yesterday and they gave her a name. Called today and they’re accepting new patients…I can see her in MAY! So, you have something wrong with you that needs a specialist to evaluate…let’s just hope it doesn’t kill you in the next eight months. ๐Ÿ™„

Gonna try calling the one I mentioned in Saturday’s open thread again that my doctor’s office transferred me to; I was looking at their website and saw that they did, in fact, just move into their current office a few weeks ago, so I’ve decided to give them the benefit of the doubt on the whole not responding to message/online request form thing. For now. Gonna call tomorrow, though, because I’ll be working from home.

Just wish I had something furry to cuddle with at home.

What a mess. Meanwhile, over here, no on can find a family doctor. At all.

This one’s part of the same overarching medical group so I’m hoping maybe it’ll be a little easier? Maybe they’ll at least be able to get my radiology report from MyChart.

On a happier note, left work right at 5, went and voted, and still got home before six!

CA does permanent mail ballots so I voted last week and mailed it off. The state also has a tracking system set up so I got an email when my ballot was received at their offices. Now, just needs is to be counted so fingers crossed. Poll places would probably do more business if there were therapy dogs available to soothe voters.

New Jersey lets you request a mail ballot for a particular election or all future elections. I did it in 2020 and dropped it in a drop box (which in my case is in front of my county’s elections office) but I only got it for that election. Should have just done all future because I got the form for this year and didn’t get around to filling it out (and it was even partially filled out for me…). I think it’s still on my coffee table. Maybe next time.

Therapy dogs at polling places would be nice. At least I vote at an iPlay America where there is plenty of parking (I think four or six districts vote there). The first few times I voted after I moved into my house I had to go to a fire station, which was closer, but the parking lot is tiny and it’s on a dead-end road. There were two districts voting there and there wasn’t much space inside, either.

I stoated early. It’s out of my paws now.

Allein, best of luck with your current bureaucratic nightmare. I’m so frustrated on your behalf!

I read the other day that the United States votes for some half a million positions, ranging from super-local to national. That seems slightly crazy. (It was an article about the differences between us and other countries that don’t hold elections so often.)

Done! Now Iโ€™m glued to the screen while not neglecting doom-scrolling.

I voted early. Glad I don’t have to wait in the lines.

I only had a few people ahead of me. They have an electronic check-in system now, and they can scan the bar code on your sample ballot and pull your name up that way (though the woman who checked me in seemed slightly pleasantly surprised that I had brought mine…). But you sign the screen with your finger and I was like “so much for signature matching…” (you also sign a piece of paper). None of the other district’s tables had long lines, either. I think the longest line I’ve ever had to wait in had maybe 10-15 people ahead of me.

I so love Colorado’s vote by mail system. Dropped off my ballot about 10 days ago. Now I just have to stay calm for the next few days as ballots around the country get counted.
