Golden looks so sad at the rejection.
From the looks of it, there’s also a cat living there. So this leetle mousie probably also keeps an eye out for it. When we had gerbils, I had their glass tank up on a bench, to hopefully make them feel safer, instead of being on the floor.
That is one sensible, mature (and adorable) teeny animal.
My sister had many mice as pets, and that just doesn’t look like a mouse appendage! Her dogs liked to sit and watch the mice run (there was a lid).
