We’ve Got Your Back, Lovey!

Peeps, this is an emergency. A cute dachshund named Lovey needs our help. Here’s reader Stephanie W. with the story:

On Monday I noticed my 7-year-old Miniature Dachshund, Lovey, was struggling with walking on her back legs, so we took her to the vet. They diagnosed her with IVDD and said she needed corrective surgery or she will continue to decline.

She was with me through so much, now it’s my turn to come through for her and I don’t have the means. I am literally watching my best friend suffer and I can’t help her.

But we can! Stephanie started a GoFundMe campaign to raise the funds that will put Lovey back on her feet again. If you’re able please donate.

She’s my friend George’s dog. They really don’t want to have to put her down. And neither do I. She’s my puppy therapist. Good for puppy kisses 24/7.

Thank you all for good thoughts and donations. ❤

Donated, in memory of my dad, who loved dachshunds and always had several running around his house. 🙂 Best of luck with Lovey’s surgery.

So sorry for Lovey’s trouble. Donated. Not sure where you’re located but one of my local rescues (Frosted Faces Foundation in Ramona, CA http://www.frostedfacesfoundation.org) has grants for medical procedures and they might be able to help. Look under the tab Programs – Financial Assistance. Also look into Petco and/or PetSmart. They sometimes have programs to assist with medical costs.

I can’t help, myself, but I have forwarded this to everyone on my non-CUTETROPOLIS list. Prayers.

    Donated.

One of my vets works with a charitable organization that helps in situations like this. They do ask that you volunteer for them in return. They are located in Dayton, OH, which is only 1+ hours away from you. I can’t remember the name of the organization off the top of my head, but I did just email my vet and will pass on the info once I have it.

I know how stressful it can be when your baby fur child is sick and needs expensive medical treatments. I have gone through it several times with my past dogs and I never gave up with trying different treatments. It was costly, but I did not care, because their lives were more important than a credit card debt. I donated and will keep Lovey in my prayers for a successful surgery and enough animal lovers will help you pay for it. Good luck to you and Lovey. Please keep us posted on her recovery and updates on how she is doing.

    Stephanie and Muppet –

This is the organization that might be able to help you: https://elliesrainydayfund.org

If Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund can’t help you, you could ask if there are other organizations they can refer you you to.

Another option is to reach out to a dachshund rescue to see if they can get you discounted vet services. Rescues usually have discounted rates with vets.

It sounds like you caught the problem fairly early and you have some time to research options.

I just received a lovely message which I hope will lift everyone’s spirits.

“thank you for your help. it has restored my faith in humanity. With you gifts and some from outside of gofundme we have enough to have the surgery! we will keep everyone updated.”
