Countless millennia ago, a wolf wandered into a human camp. Today, one of its elongated descendants wonders where it all went wrong, in Confessions of a Dachshund, found by reader Allein.

The dachshund family is entertaining relatives, but the weather’s too hot to do anything but get on each other’s nerves. One guest gets a bit feisty, but he’s soon put in his place.

The three dachshunds have a lovely back garden that was planted just for them. But they will graciously let you sit on the patio furniture, if you ask nicely.
