I need a pocket pup.
I actually have a travel blanket that folds up into a pillow, so when it’s in blanket mode it has a big pocket. Would be perfect for a pocket pup. I have it over my lap right now and it feels very empty all of a sudden.
Someone on instagram really had a fit about this dog cos s/heโs so small. Is this one of the dogs that are bred to be incredibly tiny? S/he is very cute and the tongue-out is adorable.
I looked at their instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/kaoru_dog/); he appears to be much smaller than their other Chihuahuas. Hopefully he was a rescue (but the page is not in English so I couldn’t get any info).
That Instagram-er shouldn’t be so quick to judge unless they know the full story. That dog is UNBELIEVABLY CUTE, although I do hope s/he was the runt of the litter, as opposed to being bred to be so tiny. I usually rescue pit bulls, but when I found a scruffy 7 1/2 lb. Papillon mix 7 years ago, I took her in. She had 4 puppies a few weeks later, and one of them, a teeny black and tan Chihuahua mix, was only 3 ounces and the size of a sparrow when she was born! She’s a “whopping” 6 lbs. now, but her 30 minutes older sister is almost 20 lbs.. The two other pups are 12 lbs each. Guess which dog keeps everyone, including my 50 lb. bully mix, in line?
I’ve gotten some “stink eye” for supposedly supporting an industry that churns out sickly, inbred dogs. Ha! I’m sure that commenter on Insta would rake me over the coals if they saw my teeny pup. They should be complaining to the person who bred her Mama until she was half dead and dumped her on the street.
I hate when I see comments assuming the person posting a video or picture of a special needs (or just especially tiny) pet must be the one who caused the animal in question to be bred that way. Sure, some people suck but unless you know more about the backstory it’s just as likely that the pet is a rescue and the person is giving it the best life they can.
I do think you should share with us, though. ๐
I don’t know how much he weighed when he was born (he was 3 when I met him), but at his biggest my ex’s little Pablo (Chihuahua) was 6 pounds (he got sick at some point and lost a pound, which I don’t think he ever fully regained).
I used to work with a girl who had two Boxers and a Chihuahua. One guess as to who was in charge.
I also used to get nasty looks for the condition some of my animals were in from people not realizing I had just rescued them. I try to see it as them being concerned for the welfare of the animal, so in that regard I guess it’s good. Anyway, this teeniest of prosh pups is freaking adorable.
Pablo the WaWa should meet my girl Ostara! I bet they’d be the cutest pair of romping pups. Ostara is always trying to get her sibs, and everyone else to play with her, which is really funny to watch, especially when she “hip checks” them.
I will try to post some pics, or ask Mike if he would be kind enough to do so on my behalf. I had some tech issues a while back, but maybe I should give it another shot.
Boxers and a WaWa together! TOO MUCH CUTE!
Sadly, Pablo’s been gone since 2009. He wasn’t much for playing with other animals (or toys, oddly), anyway. Loved people, though.
RIP, Pablo. I never knew you, but loved you, anyway.
He was hard not to love. <3
I also hate when people make assumptions based on pictures with no background facts. I will just assume s/he was born tinier than most and love the qte!
I love all dogs but my 2 favorites are at opposing ends in size, if I was to have a dog it would either a chihuahua or a pit bull.
Why not both? ๐
That is one teeny tiny pup. And the blep is so adorable!!! Checked pockets and no puppers, I haz a sad now.
