I see no imposter only cats, just beautiful cats!

Beautiful, beautiful cats! And the imposter is darn cute!😉
I love the blue/green eyes, and the green eyes on that beautiful black/brown marled kitty! Just lovely💙

Those cats are fabulous, especially the one wearing a dog costume!

Friends, I’m delighted to report that the biggest and most expensive part of the Shortcakery refurbishment is now complete – both bedrooms and the staircase have new carpets and the living room, dining room, kitchen and hallway are resplendent in oak-effect laminate. I was worried that the new real oak furniture might make it look cheap and nasty, but mercifully it doesn’t. The bathroom, by comparison, looks like something you’d find in a Leningrad bus station in 1979, but it’s next in line to be transformed.

I had an eventful night last Wednesday due to the late arrival of some paint I needed for the front bedroom. The carpet fitters were due early on Thursday morning so it HAD to be finished. It was already late when I got started, and by the time I laid down my brush it was 2am. Then I remembered I hadn’t eaten since breakfast, wolfed down a meal and crawled into bed at three, only to crawl out again at six to do some last minute furniture moving. When all this is over I’m NEVER decorating again!

I’m hugely impressed by your energy and competence. “[A] Leningrad bus station in 1979” is a hilarious description – I wish I could see that .

Believe me, you DON’T want to see it. I cringe whenever nature calls, although it looks slightly better without stacks of cardboard boxes in the bath!

      Photos?

Glad to hear that most of your new home is coming together nicely! It’s so much work – phew. May I add a suggestion to be filed away – when you do decide to change your Leningrad bus station bathroom – look into adding radiant heat to the floor. It was the best decision I made when redoing my bathroom. 🙂

All are gorgeous and just so stinking cute! And I couldn’t find any imposter either, let’s just say it’s an honorary cat as it’s (hopefully) been accepted by the clowder.

And Alice, I understand completely about reno fatigue. And I still have a few bits to do in the bathroom. When we first moved in, we had plans to keep the original floors in two rooms and first peek under the carpet seemed like they were in good shape. Nope, and had to get a flooring rep out on New Year’s Eve to get something scheduled before we moved in in 2 weeks. Never again!

Not much planned for the weekend as it looks like it’s going to be raining again. I know we need it but I’m now officially done with this weather and winter. Might take the dogs up to the mountains and introduce them to snow. Should be interesing.

      Dmmmmmmmmmmmm Mmmmmm

I see the imposter and I will be glad to take him so the household balance is not thrown off. I promise he will get what he deserves.

Alice – I need new carpet and one problem I have is I have nowhere to move the furniture to! Carpet is in the whole place except the entry, kitchen, and bathroom. So I don’t know how that would work.

Allein, at one point I had cardboard boxes full of books and DVDs stacked up in the bath because I ran out of floor space! The only reason I coped was because I’d already got rid of the old bulky furniture we brought with us from a much bigger house. And I forgot to mention that the flooring supplier messed up the order and sent four carpets instead of three – the huge fluffy intruder is currently taking up a third of the hallway and part of the living room, as a result of which I can’t shut the door and all the heat is escaping…

They couldn’t take the extra one back?

When we got new carpet in my old bedroom years ago, they messed up and sent premium padding instead of the standard one that came with the carpet. So we got a free upgrade because they didn’t want to go back for the right material (or maybe just didn’t have time). No complaints from me!

        • Alice Shortcake March 4, 2023 / 10:28 am

Oh, they’re taking it back but not until next week. There were some hilarious scenes on Tuesday when the narrow hallway was absolutely FULL of carpet and I had to clamber over it like a chubby mountain goat.

The impostor is the one in the shoe box, right? Gorgeous babies! Melissa, do they all live inside with you?

Alice Shortcake, congrats on the renovation news!!!! It’s always a big pain but then so exciting when it’s done! AJ, I feel your pain–in my previous house, there were projects that didn’t get finished for 7 years. Allein, I’m in the same boat with flooring: no place to move all the stuff out of the way. The bedroom carpet will need replacing first because the cats use it as a scratching post and vomit pad.

Looking forward to an arranging sort of weekend. I’m trying to sell a big console table that I’ve replaced with a smaller cube unit, but right now both are in my (already crowded) great room. Then I need to clear space for the new loom and figure out where to stash the old loom until it sells. It would be great if I could reorganize my garage space too, but that feels like a big job with a still-sore wrist.

Yes, I’m getting a new loom. I need a bigger weaving width. So I’ll sell Remus, my beloved Baby Wolf (sniff)–I keep telling myself I don’t need TWO floor looms taking up space in my overcrowded great room.

Hope you all are well. Hugs.

  7. Duckie 🐥 March 4, 2023 / 11:50 am

Shivery Saturday morning. Tempted to go back to bed.
Signing papers on Wednesday to take care of FIL under our authority. Ex-step-mother-in-law in for a bit of a nasty shock.
This year’s tax refund will be a nice size. Using it to pay down line of credit, bills, and then get our own paperwork in order. Then I get a new iPad.
Duckie has learned a new trick. She drinks from a tiny spoon! She’s very anxious now when I stir my tea, as she knows she will get a sip when it cools enough.
Trying some new craft projects this week.
    Have a great weekend, everyone.

      oooo – video please!

….ummm…don’t know what you’re talking about, Mike. They all look like cats. LOL

As a chihuahua owner, I can attest that many people think I’m outside walking my cats. Especially little kids.

    • DEBG March 4, 2023 / 5:14 pm

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

      • Julie March 4, 2023 / 8:45 pm

So many times I’ve heard: “Mommy, why is that lady walking a cat?”

        • kermit March 4, 2023 / 11:34 pm

I have neighbors who actually walk their tabby cat, and don’t think there’s anything strange about it.

He’s surprisingly cooperative wearing a harness, and seems to enjoy walking around on grass.
