Otter steals surfboards, baby orangutan, stray cats of Cyprus, and how to scratch your tapir.
She Steals Surfboards by the Seashore. She’s a Sea Otter.

And finally: How to Scratch Your Tapir
Tara O. asks: “When was the last time a Tapir was featured on Cutetropolis?” Um, right now.
That is clearly some expert tapir scratching. Are there training programs I could sign up for?
I want an answer to this question too. Love tapirs, especially the babies who look like watermelons on legs.
Yes! Love the babies💙
Cutetropolis needs an institute of higher learning. I propose we build NTMTOM-U, and have tapir scratching as one of the courses.
We could have field trips!👍🏼
I will not be denied a sea otter on my birthday!
I couldn’t see the article because it’s in the New York Times so I went to YouTube 😂🤣
Happy Birthday!
A suggestion for NYT – check with your local library; mine gives me access to the NYT through something called ProQuest (usually; I search by title and sometimes I don’t find them). They don’t always include pictures, but for the most part that’s not a big deal.
I was able to see this article, though, for whatever reason. I think it allows a certain number of free articles each month. Guess I haven’t tried to read any at work lately.
Happy Birthday.
Happy day, Georgiana! Hope the kitties know how to mark this special day.
THAT is a determined otter!
Happy Birthday!🎉
Happy Birthday! 🙂
Thanks for posting that! I also found the story on People: https://people.com/sea-otter-attacks-surfers-in-santa-cruz-7559851
Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday, Georgiana!
Many happy returns of the day, Georgiana!
I will never not love a baby ape post.
And now I want to scritch a tapir.
I saw the sea otter story yesterday, and despite the otter’s aggressiveness, I loved it.
lol…I was just reading the NYT’s “The Morning” newsletter and they included the otter story:
Webbed shaka: An otter steals surfboards and rides them. She’s wanted by California officials.
That is one blissed out tapir. Reminds me of dogs and cats when you start giving skritches and then roll over so you can get that belly.
Sea otter headline reminds me of the phrase I had to practice to help me out with the slight lisp I had as a child – Sister Susie sitting by the seashore, sewing shirts for sailors, and singing sea chanties. If I went too fast, ended up sounding like a snake, sss, ssss, lol
I’m sorry to nuff, but the sea-otter story strikes me as very, very sad. All because of stoopid hoomans who thought they knew better than expert advice to NOT feed wild animals. Now the poor otter will have to be re-homed; possibly in supervised conditions instead of in the wild, as nature intended and rehab experts worked so hard to make possible. I hope the otter will be able to be rehomed in the wild someplace else. But I’m still very sad.
How do you know her behavior is a result of people feeding her? Just curious…
It was in the Times article.
Okay, didn’t read that. Thanks!
