Hippo Halloween

Fiona, Fritz and family get pumpkin treats — but they’ll have to catch them first.

    Aww! Fun!

I just got a bunch of kids (including an adorable tiny giraffe)…they were the first and they wiped out what little candy I had (I actually didn’t have enough; a couple of the older kids let the little ones have them). If I get any more they’re getting quarters (which I’ve got plenty of). I don’t usually get many (if I’m even here) so I didn’t even buy anything and just gave out the peppermint patties I already had. I feel a little bad (since I didn’t think of the quarters in the moment).

Nobody on our little street puts up Halloween decorations we were the only house decorated in the past. We never got a lot of kids but last year was the worst we got maybe 10 kids so this year we didn’t decorate or buy candy.

Two of my neighbors up here don’t seem to do Halloween; in the past they’ve had “no treats” signs on their doors, and they’re the two doors you can see most easily from the ground, so I think a lot of kids just don’t bother coming up the stairs. A lot of the time I’m not even here (sometimes on purpose) but I was working from home today.

    Certainly enjoyed those pumpkins!

Since I moved here I haven’t done Halloween treats cos no one knows we’re back here so we don’t get anyone🤷🏼‍♀️

This might be my favorite thing about autumn: all the pumpkin bashes at zoos! Was that Fritz gobbling up the pumpkin stem? Adorable.

No kids for me–our condo buildings require codes to get in, plus I was at Eddie Izzard’s completely fabulous show last night!

I’ll give a full report on Saturday’s open thread, if we have one. It was an unbelievable show. I laughed so hard, my sides still ache.
