Jenkinson’s aquarium in Point Pleasant, NJ used to have a leucistic alligator. He was from New Orleans and his name was Thibodaux.
I just did a little googling to see if I could find any info on him and found a post on a reptile forum that quoted an article from 2005; apparently he was on loan from the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, and was set to go home but stayed in NJ because of hurricane Katrina. Evidently he went to Nebraska at some point – I also found an Instagram post from the Omaha Zoo in 2021 that says:
“Did you know? Thibodaux is a 34-year-old leucistic American alligator. He is one of only seven remaining leucistic alligators that were found in a wild nest in Louisiana in 1987. There were originally 19 white alligators found in this nest.”
From the Omaha Zoo site:
“The world’s largest indoor swamp is located under the Namibian sand dune of the Desert Dome. Experience the 160,000 gallon, 1/4 acre mysterious swamp with a boardwalk. It features a Trapper’s Cabin, a beaver lodge, cypress trees and 38 swamp animal species in barrier-free habitats. The swamp is home to nine adult American alligators including a white, leucistic (reduction of all skin pigments) alligator on loan from the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.”
So I guess he’s 36 now.

Charlie and Willy both won a golden ticket with that family. Loving llama lloga, never seen a spotted llama before. Such an interesting pattern. And yes, I did see the llama commercial. Now I’ll be singing “Mamacita” all day, lol. Amazon has come out with some amazing commercials this season. Awwww, mama gorilla and baby, and smooches. That was just soooo sweet.
Llamas can often have varied coat patterns, kinda like calico cats. I need to get a spotted llama fleece to spin and see how I could make patches of color in the finished yarn.
That would be soo cool! I was wondering if the spotted coat correlates to spotted or varigated yarn.
