Here’s the perfect story to start your Caturday, because it concerns the uncanny Universal Cat Distribution System, as experienced by reader Tara O.:
On Sunday evening I went to collect Jacques and Butch, only to find a third kitty hanging out with them. I texted Gingko’s mommy because this kitty looks very similar to the brother Gingko lost.
The Keeper (has no name so far), was super lovey dovey and has spent the week “meeting” Gingko under the door. Gingko, for his part, has a new spring in his step and seems eager to meet his new roomie.
On Tuesday the CDS sent another kitty, this one not so friendly. He sprayed all over my porch and terrorized Butch. He was gone by morning, and hasn’t returned since. Thank goodness.
Wow, what an eventful week at your place Tara. He’s a handsome boy Mr. No Name. Glad to hear the CDS has sent a new friend for Ginko, fingers crossed they become BFFs. And happy that the CDS realized its error in sending the other one (glitch in the machine) and he hasn’t come back.
I have an exciting day planned. I joined a Facebook group for women in my area and a bunch of us are going catamaran sailing later today. And the weather should be perfect, low 80s, sunny and a nice breeze. Tomorrow will be running errands and buying a few last minute presents. Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Catamaran sailing sounds like so much fun!
I’m the new kitty is getting a forever home and that Gingko is getting a new friend.
I went to the vet to get Minnie’s prescription for her thyroid medication refiled and they were out of pills in her dosage. She said the medication is out of stock at supplier level and she doesn’t know when they’ll be available again.
She gave me pills that are twice Minnie’s usual dosage so I have to cut them, the problem is they are tiny pills and almost round and hard so very difficult to cut in half even with a pill-cutter, I’ve destroyed 4 pills already since Tuesday, I’m very annoyed.
But I guess if that’s the worst problem I have I should count myself lucky.
Have a good weekend all.
Hugs to Miss Minnie, and Storm and Skye.
Happy Caturday…not much going on.
Just gonna leave this here for Deb
Heh heh heh.
I’m almost done plying that lovely brown wool, people. It makes gorgeous yarn.
Picture?
Soon! I have to finish plying and then wash it to set the twist.
and for BFB
(well, that image came out bigger than I expected…)
The universal cat distribution system really works! Except for occasional glitches. I hope new kitty becomes a permanent part of Gingko’s life. Everyone needs a friend.
I’m about to head out for a haircut, then brunch at a local restaurant I haven’t tried. When my haircuts happen on Saturdays, I try someplace new in town. Though I’ve lived in this town over a year, there’s a lot to explore!
Then it’s another quiet weekend with yarn and cats. My Christmas preps are minimal, so I’m all done! I also want to get back in the macaron game–the batch I made last weekend were the worst ever, so there’s nowhere to go but up.
Made 6 quarts of Chex Mix (original recipe) in the crockpot for family gifting this week. Still have cereal and nuts left so may make more. We loved this as kids, mom always made it, tho not in a crockpot. Was much easier than the oven way IMO.
Almost all of Christmas shopping done. Just need a couple of gift cards, then wrapping commences!
Finally finished my last shawl I’ve been making for 4 close friends, on and off since February. Actually made 6 so they can have a choice. Will give “leftovers” to family.
Happy weekend y’all!
Hi Everyone!
Update on The Keeper – his name is now Miso. Miso and Gingko seem to get along just fine for the most part. But at least once a day, there is a whirling tumult upstairs and their hooman has to split them up. She says the fights start only when she’s not in the room so she has yet to figure out what starts them off. Miso is a big cuddler and is very happy to be inside.
Unfortunately the CDS is still malfunctioning. After initial visit, the little grey kitty has been seen every few days, and he desperately wants to be friends with Jacques and Butch. He even came running with them the other night when I called them to come in. Almost made it inside before spotting big scary hooman (me) and zooming under the shed. Poor thing.
All seems chaotic around here on a larger scale too. The property owner at the big project to the north of me (who has caused damage to my house and almost knocked it down by digging to deep next to my foundations – and so much more that I won’t elaborate on) has now threatened to sue me because I won’t give him an easement to finish his wall until he addresses and fixes some of the damage he caused. And he’s shocked. To the other side of me, the house has sold, and I received a notice that a permit has been issued so that they can start demolishing it on Dec 27th. We cannot get ahold of the new property owner. I just wanted to go ‘home’ to California without having to worry about anything… oh well. I’m going to buy yet another camera today and some data cards for longer recordings. Such an annoyance.
AJ – would love to be out on a catamaran with you!
Georgiana, good luck with the pills. Jacques is now also on them. Ours are tiny, pink and slippery! I can imagine they are very tricky to split in half.
Allein – love those images 🙂
And DebG thought of you this week. We got a new collection from a student at the Philadelphia Textile School, dated ca.1920. They are his notebooks on color theory as well as setting up looms, especially for Jacquard weavings. And then some of his own designs at the end. They are fantastic.
Hope you all have wonderful weekends!
“has now threatened to sue me because I won’t give him an easement to finish his wall until he addresses and fixes some of the damage he caused. And he’s shocked.”
Of *course* he’s shocked!🙄 People like this are never aware of the problems they cause others. Good luck!🍀
I hope everything works out with the bad neighbour and the new one.
Thank you both for the good thoughts. ❤️
Those notebooks sound fantastic! Good luck with the rotten neighbor.

Sick. Bad cough. Chest hurts.
Got nuzzled by an albino hedgehog yesterday. Almost took it home.
Duckie seems depressed.
Family still hasn’t figured out Christmas Day.
I would love to get nuzzled by an albino hedgehog!
Sending healing purrs from my 3 for you bad cough and chest.
Happy Birthday to Mabel!!! What a beautiful place to celebrate.
(Though I’m more of an Olive, at home napping on the couch.)
I am much more like Olive, thank you! That last picture of them is wonderful.😊
I’m just glad to see Olive, that title/first image had me a little panicked.
Me, too. I was glad to see I was right in assuming she’s just not up for the big mountain adventures at this point. (Plus, I figure when the time comes that’s not how he would make it known…)
I googled this once before but I just looked again, and going by the dates given in an article from a couple years ago, Mabel just turned 7 (her actual birthday was December 13th) and Olive was 11 on November 29th.
I’d like to thank my cousin (actually my late mother’s cousin) Bill for coming up with the best excuse for not answering my phone call – “The kitchen was on fire”! Apparently the damage was bad enough for his insurance company to offer temporary hotel accomodation, but he preferred to get by with a microwave oven. I’m surprised I haven’t had a similar incident as I have a terrible habit of leaving the stove on.
Oh I do that too! Thank goodness my husband is there to turn it off.
