Miri’s Early Warning

A peaceful morning is interrupted when Kitten Miri senses danger. Is it a thunderstorm? A volcano? An army of goblins? We’re not sure.

A young cat with white facial fur hides underneath a blanket so that only her face is visible.

At such moments of vulnerability, there’s only one place to hide: Maru’s zero-sided, completely non-protecting box. Makes sense.

Today’s Caturday visitor is Jacques, from reader Tara O., who shared this photo of Jacques as a kitten:

He is about six months old here. Very judgey. It’s about a month after he came to me, and he was very distant. He would just watch me, no cuddles.

A black cat reclines on a cushion and looks at you.
I’m one of those surveillance cats you’ve heard about.

Jacques grew from a judgey kitten into a hangry cat, and here he is demanding a gourmet dinner:

I sautéed asparagus in olive oil with a LOT of garlic put it over pasta with some Parmesan. My silly foodie kittie couldn’t get enough.

More Maru Memories

In this month’s look back, Maru multiplies in mirrors, ambushes a cat toy, gets crinkly with paper, and of course squeezes into a variety of small spaces.

Back in the present, Hana and Kitten Miri explore the garden, serenaded by a chorus of insects.

Ready for an exciting weekend? Skye and Storm, from reader Georgiana Y., definitely are:

My cats Skye and Storm have a very full life, in the morning they sit and watch the birds and squirrels in the backyard and in the afternoon they follow the sun and come to watch what is happening in front of the house. I often wonder how they can handle all that excitement!

Two cats sit on a cat perch facing away from us and look out of a window.
Two cats viewed from behind sit on the floor and look out a picture window.

Bonus Cuteness!

Could this be what has Skye and Storm so intrigued?

The stray cats I feed regularly decided to all come at once for the evening meal. I think the two female black cats might be sisters, both of them are very skittish but one more so than the other. The big orange boy is very friendly and not aggressive with them at all.

Three cats sit on an outdoor deck. Two of the cats have black fur, and one cat eating from a bowl has orange fur.
