Links: Christmas Leftovers

Festive pets, pesky cockatoo, Doge dog gets a statue, cuddling wombats, and more.

And finally: Smooth Wombat

With the old scratch-into-roll-into-cuddle move. Works every time.

I’m in love with Fizzy’s little face and her Santa hat.

The rescued squirrel’s interactions with Mom are SO sweet.

Featherless cockatoo: you WILL love me.

Bronchitis has settled in for the rest of the year, and probably part of next year. I hate working in a mall.

I’m sorry you’re ill. Malls are not a thing in NYC so what is the special problem with malls?

Everyone tries to play sardines to get great deals, without respect for other customers or employees. Manners are left outside.

Wow. I imagined malls as great open spaces.

They are—but they’re chock full of stores, most of which are fairly small. Usually each level has one or two larger stores anchoring that floor. I don’t know what the situation is in Canada, but most US malls are not in great shape—at least they weren’t the last I heard.

As someone who lives in NYC herself, I mostly know about malls from having seen them in Los Angeles, and maybe a few other places I’ve visited. I find them depressing, but some people love them. Takes all kinds!

Sorry your hill Ducky, I hope you feel better soon.
I try to avoid shopping at malls or department stores during the Christmas season because of the crowds and that goes double for Boxing Day! I did it once in my youth and swore I’d never do it again!

My mom and I went to the mall on Christmas Eve once and it took us 45 minutes just to get out of the parking lot. Never again.

People were actually lining up, waiting for tables in the food court. Once a table was secured, one person would stay to guard it while the rest lined up at the mini- restaurants to order food.

And they were all pigs! Who pukes on a tray and then covers it with another tray?

So sorry, Duckie. Take care of yourself.

I would be so scared to nap with a squirrel. Would hate to roll over on top of them and squish them.
