You better be careful that none of those gifs come from ACME.

So happy for Rocky and his family. I would not be able to function in that situation, until my darling babies were found safe.

I wondering if its a natural instinct/reaction for that species. If so its a good one.

It is! Sulcata tortoises burrow a lot, whether to escape heat, cold, just to sleep, etc. They can make huge messes re-landscaping your yard if you don’t provide a turtle house for them! My sulcata is a bit bigger than Rocky at 52 lbs., but not as big as Huckleberry, the tortoise who stayed at Pasadena Humane. (I think there was some error in the article, because no way Rocky is 100 lbs.) There was a family that have a 175 lb. sulcata named Tip Toe (I love it!) who, last I heard, was staying with her, 10 people, 2 pit bulls, a lab, and 2 cats in 1 bedroom. I hope they, and all the fur and scale-kids, find their way to either their old homes, or new ones soon!

Just met Chappy the roadrunner–what a wonderful friend!

Also I am a sleepy sea lion today.

I am the sea lion and the sea lion is me. I slept like a baby last night – up every 2 hours, lol. First I had to use the facilities, then the emergency alert app went off about evacuations for the fire south of me, then who knows what woke me up and so I laid there until 5 when I usually get up. Tried coffee and that’s not working. Good thing for the cute here to keep me going. If everyone could think rain thoughts that would be great. Got a fire south of me by the Mexican/US border that’s slowly creeping north but it’s mostly burning in uninhabited land. I can actually see the smoke from my front porch. Thankfully the wind isn’t too strong today so fingers crossed it doesn’t get worse and we get rain over the weekend.
