Welcome to Caturday! Today’s guest, courtesy of reader Susan H., is a big boy taking a whole seat to himself:
We’ve had Julius the orange bobtail for just over a year now, and he’s grown into a big (16 pounds!) loveable goofball. He does occasionally get his turn with the brain cell — he’s very good about coming home when we call him, and he’ll sit on command! Every morning, he tries to keep me from leaving for work by posing like this when I say goodbye to him.

Happy Caturday!
I actually got up with a reasonable time of my alarm going off (I have no plans today, other than to clean up a bit because the fire alarm inspector is coming back on Monday) and did a short workout in my living room. I get a gold star.
I might be like Bella later, though.
After posting I did a 20 minute yoga video. I found a channel called Charlie Follows the other day; I like her. She’s in the UK, I think. I did one video yesterday where she was on a beach, and in this one she’s in a forest somewhere, so the background is lovely.
I could watch the girl kissing rescues digs over and over… so heartwarming! I also recently discovered Charlie Follows… will have to try her videos on your recommendation!
Our weather has stalled.. it won’t be above 60 degrees Fahrenheit for the foreseeable future. And I am in the throes of semester exams… given two and have two coming up next week. I wish I could chuck it all for becoming a tour guide or a cemetery gardner. Have a nice weekend, y’all!
Gold Star Pup needs her own line of soft toys and perhaps a series of children’s books!
It’s been a bit of a mixed bag at the Shortcakery this week. My autoimmune hepatitis continues to improve and I’ve been given the green light to reduce the steroids; the garden is planted out and thriving, despite the weird weather; and the new denture doesn’t feel as odd as it did at first. On the other hand, I’ve had to cancel my credit card due to some fraudulent transactions, possibly connected to a cyber attack on retailer Marks and Spencer.
How could you leave that kitty when so obvy wanting pets?
The gold star dog needs his/her own show!
What a handsome boi! Glad to hear Julius is utilizing that one brain cell well. Gold star dog is too cute! And yes, we need her so much right now.
It looks like a quiet-ish weekend over here. Have the Lego club later today, and I need to go weed whack but we’ll see if the weather cooperates. After a few sunny days, we’re back to cool and cloudy weather with possible rain later. Tomorrow is museum day, I’ll see if anyone doesn’t show for the craft workshop as when I remembered to sign up, all the spots were filled. It’s sounds really interesting, metalworking your own key chain. If not, there’s plenty of new exhibits for me to see. I also have 3 more days of call-in jury duty. We’ll see if my group is called, it could be Tuesday, it could be Wednesday, or even Thursday. I don’t mind doing my civic duty but I really don’t want to end up on a long case. Enjoy the weekend, hope you have nice weather!
Between the handsome Orange Julius and Gold-Star Pup, I am done for the day, overcome by Teh Qte.
What a beautiful orange cat!
We had our first mini heat wave this week, temp. went up to 27C/80F with high humidity but we’re going back to seasonal temp. this week.
My husband has bought a small garden green house, it’s suppose to arrive today. He tried planting some vegetables in containers last year but the squirrels ate them before they could mature. He hopes that putting the plants elevated in the shelves of the green house the squirrels won’t get at them, we’ll see.
I’m still feeding OC (outside cat), yesterday we had rain so I didn’t leave food outside and later after the rain stopped Skye and Storm were acting up so I went to see and OC was sitting on the stairs. I took a bowl out, of course OC ran away but not far and it came to eat as soon as I came in.
Hope everyone as a good weekend.
I have also won an OC from the Cat Distribution System!
Good Morning! Julius, you are gorgeous. My what big feet you have! Congrats on teaching him to “sit.” Wish I could teach mine that.
Finally! My allergies are ebbing. It’s like clockwork, April 15 – May 15th. My horrible class is over too – I just have to grade final projects. I had a professor who always said, “I teach for free, they pay me to grade.” Yep – that’s about right.
It’s looking like a nice day today after a week of rain. I made an unfortunate discovery last night, I have a leak in the corner of my bedroom. Its a corner under a mansard with a downspout in it. It’s unclear if it is the roof (which looks okay), or if the downspout has shifted. I can decide whether to call a roofer or someone to deal with the gutters. I have stitch and bitch tomorrow, so I’ll ask the group if they have any wisdom on the situation.
Julius is so handsome! And of course he pours on the cute, hoping you won’t leave. Mine do the same thing.
Peeps, I could use your good thoughts today. Sevi, my about-18-year-old cat, started to deteriorate yesterday and he had a really bad night. We’ve got a vet appointment at 3 and I think I’ll have to say goodbye to my darling. I’m sitting on the floor next to him, just being together for as long as possible. We all know this day will arrive and we hope it won’t, but it does.
Hugs to you all.
We’re all here for you, Deb. Lots of love and hugs.
hugs to you and Sevi. Be there for him like he’s always been there for you.
💔
So sorry about Sevi. Hugs to you and gentle pats to him.
They never stay long enough with us 🙁
Hugs to you, Debg!
{{{Hugs}}} back to you and Sevi from me and Bibi. My heart goes out to you.
Been thru this and it’s so hard! {{{{Hugs}}}}
I sympathize with you wholeheartedly ((hugs))
It’s the weekend, and Julius, you make an awesome sunny spot on a rainy morning. Between you and the adorable baby star there, the rain might be tolerable, if it would stop.
All seems ok here. Duckie might be laying an egg or two this week, but I’m prepared.
Things could be looking up soon. My sister and her idiot husband finally got their youngest assessed for autism. Took them eleven years. Now that he has an official diagnosis, they can start getting funding for him. It also means he qualifies for Canada’s disability tax credit program, and the tax credit is retroactive for the last ten years.
Also, my hubby applied late last year for the tax credit and was denied. However, we received a call this past week from the advocate company who did mine, and they said that there have been several changes made in the qualifications section, and that his denial could be challenged. So they are doing that for him. If it goes through… 🙏🏼
After a month of procrastination, I finally got our upright freezer defrosted yesterday. Once all the frosted areas were chipped/melted away, there was SOOOO much more room inside.
I have discovered the delights of Pride and Prejudice variation stories, and am having a blast reading (and collecting) them.
My container garden on the deck is flourishing, but I long for property to have a real garden. I swear, I can see the peas growing right before my eyes.
This week, I plan to go down to our town’s lake and look for duck and geese fuzzlings. I have proper food to give them, and not the bread that is so frowned upon. I’ve also started carrying a few hazelnuts or walnuts in my purse, as our local squirrels like to shake down visitors for free lunch. It’s very hard to say no to a furry creature that climbs up your legs.
Off to wreak havoc on society. Please, everyone, try to have a good weekend.
Apparently Julius isn’t as big as we had thought- he had a vet visit yesterday and he weighed 13.5 lbs. We need to get a digital scale- we’d been using an old dial one and it looked like 15 or 16, but it’s hard to tell with one of us holding him and the other trying to read the scale, lol!
Julius is such a sweetheart and that braincell should not be overused!
(I wish I could enjoy not very bright people as much as not very bright cats, there are more people around me waiting for the arrival of the one braincell, but it just never happens)
