I’m in a fragile mood this morning so the only thing I’m going to look at is that extra fluffy doggo I just can’t face hurt beasties today.

Selkirk in the parade is safe, too.

Hugs from me also and head bonks from Butch.

Hugs too but it isn’t too depressing. It’s an uplifting story of his resilience and there’s videos at the end showing how well he’s adapted. There are other videos from his rescue but you can skip those as I did. Feel better.

I didn’t know the firetruck cat was Tik Tok famous! I saw the video from inside the truck (love his dad laughing at the reaction of the crowd), and also another of him popping up in the window taken by someone in the crowd. I wonder what he’s thinking in his little orange brain cell…

Same here, on all points. Just love this little guy, and his laughing dad.

Selkirk video is hysterical! The rousing cheers as dad moves from one window to the other! Iโm sure orange cat vibes are escaping thru also๐
I canโt believe how twisted Cabbageโs legs are! I also am amazed at how well they turned around, even with help. Something to learn about the resiliency of young animals!๐๐ผ

Omg, that floofy Pomeranian! And, he looks so happy at the end. ๐ฅฐ

That is some serious floof!๐

Fluffy doggo and fire truck cat are too funny. I swear pom poms are basically fur balls with a nose and 2 eyes attached. Selkirk and his one brain cell, wonder if he thought everyone was there for him, lol.

My parents’ neighbors used to have an orange Pom…they named him Spalding.
TaraJune 19, 2025 / 12:56 pm
perfect name for a pom!

The elephant story needs a five hanky rating/warning. I couldn’t do it. The poor baby. So grateful there are people out there who can do it and step in to help.
And I didn’t know fire fighters could have ponytails? Where have I been?
Broiling hot today in Philly. Waiting for my former neighbors to come by so we can BBQ for Juneteenth.

The guy holding the cat was the husband of one of the firefighters. If I understood correctly, she had switched shifts with someone and then found out she would be on the parade truck, so she asked her husband if he wanted to come. His decision to take the cat was a last minute thing because kitty woke up from his nap a few minutes before he was leaving, so he grabbed the harness and carrier to took him along. (It also said he’s used to adventures but he also could go into his carrier in the truck if he got scared of the crowds.)

๐คฃ I should have “read” the article – not just looked at it! But that’s me – visual person all the way. Thanks for the sum up Allein.

That’s okay; I often don’t read them, either, or just skim. (Hence my “if I understood correctly” disclaimer…๐). Since I had seen the video a few days ago I was interested in the backstory.

Longuro looks like a tapir! He’s an amazing fellow. I too skipped the sad parts and tried to focus on his recovery.
