Vent alert: I am in desperate need of some support today. One of my BILs is in serious trouble at work and in family. His employer was doing insurance confirmation forms, and one of the requirements was valid DLs. My BIL has apparently been driving for almost four months with an expired DL. I don’t need to go into detail about what would happen if he caused an accident. Anyway, the people that hired his company want him gone, and if he’s kept, they could decide to not renew the company contract in January. But if he goes, my sister and the kids would suffer, and so would the rest of my family, as we would have to support them. We are tired of saving this guy’s butt time after time, but the consequences of refusing are… Hubby got him the job, and now hubby’s work reputation is suffering.
Vent over.
I am violating strata rules by putting birdseed out on my deck. I currently have four wild borbs outside making the most of it.

How difficult is it to get an expired DL reinstated in a timely fashion?
If you got to a smaller community you can usually get scheduled for a road test much faster than in big cities.
It may also depend on how long its been expired and if its from your current location..
I live in a big city and mine was only a few weeks expired so I was able to get it that day.
The woman in front of me had one from another state, 3,000 miles away, and was expired for TWENTY YEARS,
She did not get a new license that day.
BIL has renewed his DL, but since it’s more than 100 days since it expired, he has to start all over again with his learners. Which means he can’t drive alone. Which means he can’t use the equipment at work unless supervised, and the company is not going to pay for a supervisor for an idiot. So he will need to replaced. He MAY be permitted to work inside, but only part time, and lower pay. But no matter what work decides, the family once again has to rally and take up the slack. I can’t even do away with him, because he refused to get life insurance just in case one of us tried that.

I’m already preparing for the expiration of my own DL (26.11.2026). Because here the medical check-up is very strict for people aged 40+
Let’s hope Duckie’s BIL gathers some common sense and gets out of trouble.
