Do you wanna build a ☃️?
The tree in the last picture was standing straight up yesterday…

It is wet and heavy here. My dad’s snowblower was not up to the task. (Neighbor came down with his more powerful one. He has a plow on his ATV but apparently it’s too heavy even for that.) I was going to make a small snowman next to the porch but every time I tried to make a ball it fell apart under pressure.

As far as I can tell, the only damage here is a branch that came off a tree in the back yard (well, and maybe that poor holly tree in the last picture…guess we’ll see if it will go back upright when the snow is gone), but it’s in the far corner and didn’t hit anything (the only thing it might hit would be the fence). I was sitting on the bed and saw a huge fall of snow; at first I thought there was a gust of wind and the tree had just dumped a bunch of snow but when the “dust” cleared I realized a branch was on the ground.

My car is clear and I was able to move it away from the side of the driveway…I had to climb over the passenger seat to get in. But I can’t go home yet because they haven’t plowed the road (I can see that the highway has been plowed, though; my parents are a few houses from the end of the street). Thankfully my boss already said this morning that we will not come into the office tomorrow, but I have an appointment in the afternoon so I need to be able to leave after lunch.

sorry for the heavy – I did hear that the Jersey shore was hit more heavily. Not sure how far you are from that. Glad y’all had help.

I’m about 15-20 miles from the shore. (I don’t go to the shore, I go to the beach. Except not really because I’m not a much of beach person.)

So many heroes in today’s links! Also Greyson’s floof is out of control.

Where is this magical land where you walk around and see lemurs free-ranging?

think she works at a sanctuary in Brazil with a focus on amazonian animals. ARCA?

You might see what Duke Lemur Center in Durham, NC has to offer nowadays. Most of their lemurs are in large (multi-acre) enclosures that the staff used to lead tours into. I am not sure what’s on offer now, but it’s well worth the tour, anyway!

In Madagascar, lemurs are considered “fady”, or taboo for dining purposes, in many areas because the people believe that the lemurs were once humans who went up into the trees to worship the sun.

Lemur is Latin for “ghost” so that tracks.

They aren’t Brazilian animals. Maybe they visited for Carnival?
