I have just been informed (by Javier, CEO of WeRateDogs, in their daily email), that today is International Dog Day.
“Javier is here to wish everyone a happy International Dog Day! It’s Javi’s first Dog Day as CEO, and he wanted to make sure you knew that if you don’t have a dog of your own right now, you’re welcome to celebrate him.”
Love that Eileen Brennan was in that and Murder by Death.

And I got an email this morning from my library saying my book on hold was available for pickup. It’s Tim’s biography “Vagabond”. Going to be a poignant read for sure, hope I don’t get the pages too wet from sniffling my way through it.

I just saw that the Empire State Building lit up in pink at 9:25 last night in tribute to Dolly.
I’ve also seen calls to make September 25 (9-2-5) Dolly Day similar to how May 4 is Star Wars Day.

I always thought Whitney was a heckuva singer, but IMO she overdid the pyrotechnics on that one. Dolly’s own version is simple and very touching. (And again, YMMV.)
I can’t believe we lost Dolly and Tim on the same day August 25th! I’m going to be watching Clue and 9 to 5 tonight.

I thought the official video announcement that Dolly Parton had the foresight to arrange was a lovely example of the class she always showed during her lifetime. She was a wonderful human being in addition to being a great singer, musician, and composer. The world is a poorer place without her in it.
So sorry to learn about Tim Curry, too. He had a rough time in his latter years, and his performances gave joy to many. I loved him as Frank N. Furter, and what I’ve seen of his Pirate King was delightful. I’ve never seen Clue, but I remember his performance in Three Men in a Boat fondly.
