It’s a cat- meleon
On the left of the image it looks as though it could be a big fluffy dog, but then on the right it goes all kerflooie, like the doggie exploded. Which is why I believe you when you say it’s a rug.?
PS In the “you may also enjoy” section is “Which Way to the Wharf” which is probably my all time favorite. I saved the image and I laugh every time I see it. Definitely one for the coffee table book.

I think we’ve all been conditioned by The Cute to expect matchink dogs and cats, and interspecies snorgling. I thought the rug was a dog, too.

I agree, the pattern-finding part of my brain is totally trying to see that rug as a dog.

I think we all are. I was shocked when I realized that it was allegedly NOT a dog!
I also thought the tiny kitty might be snuggled up to a giant doggie but it does, indeed appear to be a rug. Excessively cute either way! 🙂

Seeing this catmouflage, I’m reminded that our bedroom is fast becoming a dangerous place to tiptoe around, what with two black dogs. Seriously, you simply cannot see them without some kind of a light. Clearly, humans are seriously shortchanged in the camouflage department!

Probably worse. A cat whap is moving and can cover more territory than a cactus that just sits there.
I see an eye on the right, and the suggestion of a leg next to the kitty… that’s one majorly large pooch! and kitty is warm and cozy.
