Maru can’t talk, or else he would squawk “Hey, mugumogu, a macaque’s got your Croc.” Instead he just gawks as off the pair walks. He’ll detox from these shocks with a nap in a box.
That knocked off my socks, Andrew Y.

My cat and I would so love to look out our door and find these guys.
Not fair. Mugumogu has macaques in her neighborhood?
I saw at least one on the other side of the fence, too!
Awww, seems Hana was a little afraid of them:

Maru’s chill, as always XD <3
Great guard cat there. Not even one chitter to warn them off. Maybe Maru thinks his mere roundness is enough of a deterrent. Tail never even broke rhythm. I’m impressed by the level of chill Maru has.
Oh well, it’s still in the yard. Mom’ll find it. Yawn. Though I must say, that’s about the most worked up I have ever seen Maru!
Wow. This is so cool.
even the floors outside are clean!
O M G !!! Macaques in the backyard! And I get excited when I see a trash panda in mine!
Me, too! Only it’s squirrels or chipmunks for me!
We had a woodchuck I’d see occasionally in our back yard in Virginia. And there was a fox we’d see sleeping in a drift of leaves in a narrow band of woods behind our place in Maryland. Not to mention the entire herd of deer that would pass our place every morning on their way to eat the old produce the folks at a nearby market would leave out.
But we never had any garden monkeys. 🙁
My husband and I stayed at a resort where we had tree monkeys outside some days. I was lucky to get a video of the alpha monkey howling.
Hope he didn’t do that too early in the morning!
Mugumogu has monkeys?! How have we not known of this before?!
Mugumogu and her kats live in a magical land.
Oh my gosh! I just translated a longer comment from Mugumogu’s blog, and Maru’s name actually does translate as “Circle”!!
Garden monkey to come in is not the first time,
Circle seems so not interested in monkeys.
Especially scared also, do not be excited.
Hana is a little vigilance Pounds, monitoring hiding in the shadows.
And how scary and coming up too close, to the cold feet.
The came to the windowsill, but is two animals, because the monkey comes doing with the herd,
The There are more a lot of monkeys around.
Love it! Thanks for the translation.
“Garden Monkey” – I love it!
I absolutely love the music! It’s a perfect match-energetic yet plonky. Oh Mugumogu!!
I don’t think I’d be leaving anything laying around loose outside with theses guys around!
Comedian Paula Poundstone joked about the uselessness of cats as sentries, because the look on their face is the same whether spotting a moth or an axe murderer!?
Hahaha
???
Monkeys, really? What must it be like to live where some of the animals that come into your yard have opposable thumbs? I’m surprised they can’t get in the house. Where does she live, a national park? I thought Japan was paved over, urban. In the US, we’ve killed off everything but the squirrels. Japan has wild monkeys wandering around? Really?
I think I see a trace of worry in Maru’s usual stoic expression.
Every time he looks at Mugumogu, I hear him saying, “Are you going to do something about this?”
