Know Your Irish Mythology

Appearing only fleetingly in ancient folklore, the leprecat is an alternate form of the more familiar leprechaun. Guarding its pot o’gold as fiercely as its human counterpart, the leprecat can nonetheless be easily lured away from its hoard by staging a production of Finian’s Rainbow, which it will instinctively attempt to join.

I’ll bite ye in yer lucky charms, I will!

“Yeah, just try puttin’ a little green bowler hat on me noggin!”

Felinian’s Rainbow? Someone get this poor kitty a coat, or a pashmina, or a kitty snuggle, it’s cold outside and drafty indoors!

      Felinian’s Rainbow 😀

Sphinx cats are so charmingly odd-looking. Endearingly scrotal.

    • allein ? December 15, 2016 / 12:57 pm

Well that is not the word that occurred to me…

      Endearingly scrotal = win! ????

      • Laura December 15, 2016 / 10:32 pm

It’s right up there with incubating a sprinkler, isn’t it? 😀

    • Duckie ? December 15, 2016 / 3:10 pm

Hammering fist on counter and laughing so hard I’m crying. “Endearingly scrotal”?
Mike, when you do that coffee table book, we need a section for vocabulary, or site specific phrases, or something listing all of these.

This is so apt! Love it. Blue Footed Booby wins the Internet today!

Endearingly scrotal. I just can’t. I’m too much on the other team. But that IS exactly how he looks. Sigh… I give in. This one time. For you guys.

This is me at one of my less friendly moments!

I love the description, but I’m with D B. I would love to see a sphinx cat getting–and enjoying–a good snuggle and a warm blanket.

The cow-patterned one that the doggie is hugging is so cute 🙂 I have never had the chance to pat a sphinx. Do they get sunburnt in the summer?

          • allein ? December 15, 2016 / 3:07 pm

I like the two in the blanket. The one on the right looks like they got caught doing something naughty and the other looks angry at the interruption.

I liked the article, the cats were referred to as naked ladies 🙂
There are some similarities between these cats and me, we could so happily avoid summer sunshine together 🙂 I also tend to wear at least a shirt when I go out.

One of my cats got sunburnt on the tip of his white ears in the summer, even fully dressed in white fur this is why I got curious about the naked ones.

            • allein ? December 15, 2016 / 3:43 pm

Yeah, I am a pasty pale person. I would be happy to sit in the shade with some furless ones and remain unburned together.

Apparently there is a website for (I’m assuming) a breeder of Sphynx cats called http://www.LilNudists.com. (Saw it in an image search; not going to try to go there at work.)

Your safe at work It is a SPHYNX cat breeder site ?

                • allein ? December 15, 2016 / 4:26 pm

I figured. I didn’t know if the filter would have a problem with the URL. 😉

Had to look up what a Bambino cat is. A Munchkin Sphinx!

        • Murray C. December 15, 2016 / 4:13 pm

Agreed, that spotty cat is amazingly cute – as is spotty doggie. And the two caught *in flagrante* are wonderful.

      • Murray C. December 15, 2016 / 4:16 pm

Not Nordstrom’s? Or Cuddledown? Oh, yeah, Irish – in our house that was synonymous with cheapskate (my Dad).

how on EARTH do you find these pictures, Mike? Or whoever is sending them in? I’ve found about two things to send in the whole time Mike’s had this site up; obviously some of you are doing much better. But honestly, I’m not sure what is funnier, the photo, the hovertext, or the opening spiel!

    • Smartypants December 15, 2016 / 5:38 pm

Hi Laura – I find a lot of cute/interesting items at Tastefully Offensive – http://tumblr.tastefullyoffensive.com – and on YouTube I’m a huge fan of (besides Maru & Hana, of course) ‘Harley the Cockatoo’ who lives in Holland with her human family, and also ‘Elephant News’ (from Elephant Nature Park, a refuge in Thailand). Oh, and Zooborns.com.

      • Faye December 15, 2016 / 9:15 pm

I recommend Esther The Wonder Pig. And Tintin The Squirrel. They are both on FB and YouTube. Fantastic animals and dads.

        • Smartypants December 16, 2016 / 2:11 am

Cool! I will have to check them out. Oh, and ‘Cole & Marmalade’ on YouTube.

(Also – not Qte-related, but I love Instructables.com – it’s the only site besides Cutetropolis where I’ve had such a strong, instant sense of being at home – “these are people just like me!”)

This kitten has fur but he is as scary as the lepercat.

    • sumomermaid December 15, 2016 / 4:50 pm

      That’s a stitch!

    • DebG December 15, 2016 / 6:01 pm

Sure, they laugh until they lose a finger.

      What a beautiful little kity.

    • Smartypants December 16, 2016 / 2:16 am

      That little tail!

He’s so fierce – even the adult cat is like “Ehm, I wouldn’t keep poking him”!
