Pink Elephant on Parade

If you saw this sight today, you might think you’d had too much to drink on New Year’s Eve. But if you were Nicki Coertze, part of a photo safari at Kruger National Park in South Africa, this would be your lucky day. Coertze captured this image of a rare baby albino elephant with her mother and family. Story, more photos at Little Things.

Happy New Year, Gigi the Cat Lady!

Poor little sweet thing! He’s so vulnerable.

Bless his leetle heart, I’m going to guess that this bebeh will be prone to sunburns– that won’t be a good thing. I wonder how its’ chances of survival will be, especially with the as**#”” poachers out there. Some dumb **## will think the albino will be good medicine for some quack remedies or for its’ ivory. I sure hope not.

Does anybody besides me want to wrap up that sweet baby in a nice, soft blankie?

After a judicious application of sun block, yes.

And then take it home for a good long nap? With me cuddled up next to it? Yes.

I’m picturing a gigantic gauze ‘onesie’ to protect his skin! 😀 That’s my next career – baby elephant dresser. Oh, and poacher chaser-offer.

Glad that I”m not the only one who wants to slather this little one in 50 SPF.

Hate to be the drunk caretaker who stumbles into this on a blowsy night.

I’m hoping since the baby is in a national park he will get some special attention and security. He’s going to need some kind of skin protection to survive–rolling in mud? Even tho he’s at a park I’m worried about poachers. I’m afraid some rich megalomaniac is plotting his capture/demise right now.?
