I don’t know why I’m surprised that bunnies like popcorn but I am!

I gave Ani a piece of popcorn once (unsalted, unbuttered). She ate it, but not with particular enthusiasm. Just as well, I want her treats to be mostly leafy greens.

“…and then I will ‘popcorn’ for joy!”

Yay! I got my free bag at Nuts to You today!
I’m headed home to give my Jacques (my black cat) his piece. He just needs one. He crunches on it for a while and then he is happy.

This bunny is absolutely the cutest. With the little paws on the sides of his head over the bowl? adorable. 🙂

Sophie loves popcorn. I argue with the man all the time about giving the pets people food. He says, “But look at that little face!” The cats don’t care about popcorn.

Yesterday when I got up, Sophie came up to me carrying a rose. I was all, “Where the heck did you get that?” Then she ate it. The husband was laughing and pointing at my desk where there was a bouquet of flowers for our anniversary. I am sure Callie stole it and Sophie stole it from her, since I held the bouquet in front of them and Sophie ran away, Grace sniffed it and walked away, while Callie attacked it.

Now I’m ready for some popcorn, with that funny, cute bunny as a bonus.

Hey, you can’t just put it back in the bowl!

      Party foul!

My dog and cat both love popcorn! But, then, they both will eat anything that falls to the floor, so liking popcorn probably isn’t all that unusual.

Aw, c’mon guys, put the bowl down so bunneh can REACH!!! Unh!!!!

    • MTKees January 19, 2017 / 10:12 pm

I’m with you. The bun is clearly trying to get more and is getting rejected. My English Setter, Jack, and I enjoy a bowl of popcorn while watch TV every Friday night. I take one piece out for myself, and then one piece out and give it to him. Yeah, it probably isn’t particularly healthy for either of us, but once a week quality time with him snuggled up against me on the couch is a trade off with which I’m comfortable.

Popcorn’s not bad if you go easy on the butter/oil and salt (or caramel, or cheese…).

A 3-cup serving of white, air-popped popcorn has 92 calories, 1 gram of fat and 1 milligram of sodium, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The snack also has 2.9 grams of protein, 18.7 grams of carbs and 3.6 grams of dietary fiber.

Here’s some info on popcorn and dogs from the AKC.

My fave popcorn is the ‘Ass-Kickin” brand from a company called Southwest Specialty Foods – definitely not suited for ani-pals’ consumption because all their products feature hot peppers! I discovered it on a business trip to Texas years ago, so it’s a nostalgia thing for me. Chile-Lime, om nom nom.

I recently tried a bag of Chili Lime almonds from Trader Joe’s. Dee-LEE-shuss! After the almonds were gone, I had to eat every bit of the chili-lime seasoning powder. :9

Not a big fan of hot stuff. I like Boom-Chicka-Pop’s sweet and salty popcorn.

            • Smartypants January 20, 2017 / 11:33 am

I’ll have to try that out – I like sweet & salty combo’s like chocolate covered pretzels.

              • allein ? January 20, 2017 / 11:42 am

                I loooove chocolate covered pretzels.

Oh my, I literally gasped when I scrolled down to see that little bun bun eating popcorn. What a cutie!!!! That face, the little white paws on the bowl, the struggle for more nom noms. Heck, I’d probably just say here have it all and put him in the bowl, lol.

    • 6rabbits January 20, 2017 / 7:38 am

Yes! I echo your feelings! I LUV the leetle right paw impatiently pushing down on the bowl such a cute baby bun!?

  10. warrior rabbit January 19, 2017 / 8:59 pm

I had a rabbit who would scale the couch and crawl frantically all over me for popcorn, as I tried to hold the bowl out of reach. (It’s not good for them.) I couldn’t sit there and eat, so I had to stand. The current rabbit is not as gonzo for popcorn, so I can nosh in peace while reclining.

For some bizarre reason, my dog Dobby goes nuts for rice cakes! Yes, rice cakes. I had one the other day and he was all over me; even funnier, whatever direction I moved the cake to keep it away from him, he was just following it. Dobby was like, give me, give me, pleeeeeeaaase give me some. Strange dog.

Pablo would try to walk out onto my arm for goldfish crackers.

    • 6rabbits January 20, 2017 / 7:40 am

My first bun would NOT leave me alone if I was eating a honey-wheat bagel! She would climb all over me until I gave her a tiny piece. We have a pic of her going after my dad’s sandwich the same way. She was not shy!

Enquiring minds want to know: is Bunny Owner wearing glitter socks?

    • allein ? January 20, 2017 / 7:28 am

      It would appear so!

  12. Blue Footed Booby January 20, 2017 / 8:17 am

I love the experimental nibble on the bowl before the bun withdraws.

  13. LunaChickFringe January 20, 2017 / 8:24 am

Last year one of my buns went NUTS for the fish tacos I was eating. Fish. Tacos. She jumped up and climbed all over me trying to get them. I kept putting her back on the floor and she would immediately jump back up and try to eat them out of the container. I had to take her out of the room and close the door. She was NOT happy about that. I was dumbfounded. I had never seen her be so determined to get to something. And no, I did not let her eat any of the fish taco 🙂

    • 6rabbits January 20, 2017 / 4:17 pm

      Okaaaay…that is bizarre!?

      • LunaChickFringe January 20, 2017 / 4:42 pm

I know, right? I NEVER figured out what it was that was making her go so ga ga over them. I even had to wash my hands a couple of times to completely eliminate the smell from my hands as she tried to nibble and bite my fingers.
