I wanted to cry reading that story about the Momma dog. I’m so happy she was trusting enough to lead kind strangers to her pups. Dogs are just all around amazing and this is just further proof. This is not the first story (unfortunately) I’ve seen about abandoned Moms who are starving but have healthy, chubby pups. They will give their all until their last breath to care for their babies.

This makes me want to have to give my pupper a big hug when I get home from work. Not that I wouldn’t do that anyway. 🙂

Yep, it’s onion cuttin’ time in Cutetropolis -can barely see to type. That dear dog gave birth to all this pups alone and suffering – she deserves such a good life now that they’ve found her.

Ludwik has my heart, too – love pigs and he’s the best – flirty side-eye and all.

Had seen something about naming a roach but nothing came to me – like the idea tho’!

Yep, dog moms are simply awesome. So glad to hear she found these people, and got a happy ending. Or in the case of her pups, a happy beginning. 🙂

Ludwig now has a naked GPig girlfriend and they pose together. Doubly cute. She’s more of a mocha shade.

I saw a naked GPig in a pet store. Let’s just say their front view is their best side.

Ludwik is outrageously photogenic. He looks like a cross between a naked mole rat and a very small hippo.

Isn’t he adorable? Maybe a dash of Capybara too.

      • Smartypants February 3, 2017 / 7:23 pm

(having now visited his Instagram)…love the fan art of Ludwik – someone even got a tattoo!

      • Murray C. February 3, 2017 / 7:57 pm

They are related to the capybara.

    • Murray C. February 3, 2017 / 7:57 pm

      Well said!

    • Faye February 4, 2017 / 10:43 pm

      Exactly!

I’m a total fan of naked mole rats. They potty train the babies by taking them by the tail and hauling them to the communal poo locations.

Mike, I luvs ya, but please for the love of all you hold dear, nevernevernever post about cockroaches again. They are NOT cute. Not to anyone who has ever lived in a New York apartment. Trust me on this. Not cute. Not not not. They are the stuff of nightmares.

And I say this as someone who somehow managed to see the cuteness in spiders back at the old ranch.

I will now go and check out all the other links.

No, roaches aren’t cute – but they are much maligned. They are NOT dirty – they clean up dirt – nature’s janitors, just like slugs and lots of other creepy crawlies that occupy the lower ends of the food chain. We would be in – literally – deep doodoo if they weren’t around to do their job.

All I ask is that they not do it in any domicile of mine, and that I never, ever, have to share personal space with them—or look at them. archy and mehitabel I can take. Not the real thing. Yeccccccccccchhhhhh.

Not that I have a strong opinion about this …

Clearly you do not live in New York, where we embrace our giant hissing cockaroaches … although the larger ones sometimes embrace us. Three cheers for the wonderful Bronx Zoo and its annual New Yorker’s approach to Valentine’s Day!

The first comments were about the mother greyhound article, so apparently others did not have this experience? First I had to answer a question to see the article — no biggie, but it was a tired old brain-teaser in which the name given to the person giving the proposed answer — which was wrong — was “Obama.” I didn’t even vote for the guy, yet I resent that. Then when I got to the article, there was an ad covering the left inch or two of the text. The close button at the very top of the ad did nothing. There was another “Google” close button lower down, and after answering questions about why I wanted the ad removed (it covered content), the ad did disappear, sure enough — but the blank space where it used to be remained. There was no scroll bar at the bottom of the text area. I closed my Bookmarks panel at the left of my browser and all it did was move the whole thing left, with the text still blocked. I tried Googling a snippet of text from the article and the only other hit that came up was a page that could not be found, so I didn’t get to read it somewhere else, either.

So, I’m glad someone got to read the durned thing, but all I got was frustrated. Whoever designed that web page was either a moron or evil.

George Michael Sherry, do you have ad blockers and pop-up blockers installed in your browser? I find they help a lot with that sort of thing, though not 100%. Having ad blockers installed is one of the reasons I make a (modest) monthly donation to Cutetropolis, and try to do all my Amazon shopping via Mike’s Amazon Smile link—it may not make up for all the ad revenue lost, but I appreciate Mike’s not blocking the blockers, as so many sites do these days.

I do not, but thanks for the suggestion. My computer is 12 years old, running XP, on its last legs (I could afford a new one — but I don’t want to have to learn these darned new OSes). I first learned on Explorer but it got so slow I changed to Firefox, where I am now — but I never have and never will understand what a Add On is or why I need so many of them or why they can’t automatically update, OR what Plug In Container is or why it always seems to be clogging up my available RAM, OR why I can’t play videos in Twitter and have to use “Page Info” and paste the video URL into the address bar to play them in Instagram — what I’m saying is, I can barely make this thing work when I keep it as simple as possible. I wouldn’t have the first idea how to install an ad blocker nor would I have much confidence that Firefox would not grind to a complete halt if I tried.

And the silly thing is, I think of myself as being pretty good with computers, for an older guy. But I’m obviously deluding myself.

Darn, the plushie roaches are sold out! Would totally have gotten one – but shall Name A Roach anyway. I know this is an apolitical site… but you all know what I’m gonna name mine, what with the orange hue and black heart and all…
