The Life of Yoyo

Reader Carol B. has a treat for us: “A while back i had asked your wonderful readers to come up with names for our new little six peeps. I loved so many of the suggestions, but as she grew, the little Silkie chick just kept jumping back and forth at me, showing me she was boss, so i named her Yoyo.

“I put together a little video of her growth, i’m sure at only 4 months she is not yet fully fluffed, but she has transformed quite a lot in this short time.”

Love her little pantaloons!! I had a pet Bantam when I was growing up on the farm. He followed me everywhere like a puppy would. He met his demise when he decided it was just too cold where he usually slept and opted for sleeping in our Jersey cow’s area. Alas, she laid on him and I found him the next morning. Sad for a little girl of about 10 years old to find that. He was a couple of years old when that happened. Animals of all kinds have been in my life since I was big enough to know they existed.

So sorry to read that! 🙁 We are fixing up a separate little room in our big barn for these guys to move into in the winter, while i’d love for them to sleep with our sheepies i just know something similar would happen, especially to Yoyo as she can’t “fly” as well as the others.

Love chickens! I guess when she has her own chicks she’ll be Yoyo Ma. One of her chicks could be Cello. I loved seeing her fluffy little butt disappearing into the greenery at the end. Thank you, Carol B., that was wonderful.

My husband calls her Yoyo Ma lol, however she won’t be a mummy, they are all girls, otherwise i’d end up with 100s of hens as i couldn’t bare to give any away! lol

Oh geez Murray! https://youtu.be/gpaOy8b8X6A And I thought you didn’t know anything about non-choral music…

Actually, I know nothing about choral music either. I sing comic songs and traditional folk songs, early cabaret, Tin Pan Alley, that sort of thing. Someday if I get my courage up I’ll post a pic of me in costume. you might …..wait for it….. laugh.?

The way she pushed through the other chickens, looks like Yoyo rules the roost. LOL!

Yes, I had to LOL when she elbowed past the other one on the ramp. Head Chick in Charge!

How do you tell the other (brown) ones apart from each other?

    • Caz July 11, 2017 / 12:48 pm

I spend way to much time with them lol, Scooter has more white on her tail feathers…that kind of thing, their personalities are so different, so far only Big Red and Wee Red like to jump up on my knee and say hello when i’m sitting with them 🙂

My grandmother had chickens. I love to see them allowed to run around outside, scratch for bugs, and be chickens. We happened to drive past a chicken farm here in Maryland near DC and I saw their green pasture with lots of chickens, and I decided I’d buy all my eggs from them at the organic store. Costs more but worth it. (Jehovah-Jireh Farm)

The music illustrating their transformation from fluffy chicks to tough street gang was perfect.

Thank you, they must have been feeling the love as one of them laid their first egg today! That’s how awesome Cutetroplis and it’s readers are! 🙂

Wow, I’ve laid an egg before (of a different kind) but not in tandem with a bazillion others! I feel so proud. Keep ’em comin’ girls!

Best little chick flick! The ending cracked me up. Nice to see them running into the distance. Like an old fashioned movie where the stars walk into the sunset. Thank you. I love how busy chickens are.
