At first Larry ignored the noise and went back to sleep, thinking it was the neighbors down the hall again. But the sound grew more persistent and less familiar, a wailing discord of inhuman voices, rising and falling as one. Hesitantly, Larry put on his slippers and crept down the hall, and gasped in horror at what he saw: The Mystic Priests of Arachnia engaged in their ritual sacrifice. From his altar overseeing the ritual, the High Priest looked at Larry, then addressed the assembled throng. “He has seen too much,” he whispered.

There’s always one flip flop. Last remnants of previous interlopers or interflopers as it were.
Great build up Mike. I have seen too much cute.
A. I was a little afraid to scroll down…
B. I fear that spider is not long for this world.
C. Thanks to the hovertext, you all get Blue Swede in all their ’70s glory.
Glad I’m not the only one who immediately thought of this song!
I too thought of that song but didn’t remember what group sang it. Anything with a spider (real or fake) creeps me out. Another NTMTOM classic of build up to the ahah moment. Thinking of calendars, will there be a Cutetropolis one this year?
Yes, and I will be making an announcement soon. Stay tuned!
I’m sorta sorry I learned what it was! OH, yes, there are blessings to being out of touch with popular culture.?
How can you not love the ooga chaka song?!?!
(And yes, that’s what I googled, because I can never remember the actual title, or who sings it. When I find it, I go, “oh yeah, I knew that” and then promptly forget until the next time I find myself looking for it.)
Easy Peasy!?
Let this post be a reminder to all of us – NEVER look at the picture before reading the caption. This post is an example of why it might be better to first view posts on your phone so you don’t inadvertently see the picture first. This one is definitely calendar material
I keep my Chrome window small at work for other reasons, but it works well to prevent accidental viewing here. Usually I first see posts in my email, so even full screen I don’t see the full image most of the time.
Is it just me, or does the gray and white kitty closest to the camera have an incongruously floofy tail?
That is a cat freakout floof–tail all puffed up to signal danger.
I think you’re right. Doesn’t look good for the spider
It does. Much floof there.
Allein, I found the Cat Mama’s original post and she talked about the gray and white kitty’s tale! His name is Ozzy and his tale is so fluffy that he actually sleeps on it.
NMTOM, excellent post! I savored reading the story slowly to get the payoff of the picture.
Hee! 😛
If a part of you is so floofy you can sleep on it, it is cute. Wait. That is a rule some place else.
Love the Bootropolis banner and the collie in the bee costume that was in the banner when I first noticed it. Now it’s a blue-eyed cat in a tiger hat.
Right now I see a little doggie in a fish? mermaid? something-shiny costume.
Do you just get a little slice of it? I can’t really determine much of what’s going on in the photo because all I see is about 2″ of it.
I view mine on my phone. Great for the scroll down, but it does cut the banner.
And I’ll have to scroll back up to partake of the flory tail. 🙂
After looking again, 3 pets in one! The kitty. Kitty’s tail counts as its own entity. And the bunny in the markings on his back. The bigger blotch on his back on the right is the bunny’s back, and the bunny is looking to the left with his ears going back up to the right. 🙂
I see the bunny!
Cat on Tree : “This isn’t gonna end well”
Spidey is coming down in 3… 2…1… followed by the shelves and the knick-knacks and Lordy is that a cactus on the top shelf?????? ?
It’s the spiders’ theme song:
? “I-I-I-I-I’m hooked on the ceiling!”?
I’m glad I wasn’t sipping my tea when I read that! 😀
Perfect!
WINNAH! ???
I think I have to turn off the interwebs for the rest of the day – Duckie just can’t be topped.
? I thank you.
Larry, you fool! Couldn’t you have obeyed the First Rule of Horror Films and sent a sixteen year old cheerleader to investigate BEFORE you risked your own life (and slippers)?
“It could be dangerous…let’s split up and check it out!”
The lights are out in the basement => We should check it out carrying candles not flashlights!!
Maybe it’s a Piñata?
*Ahem* I remember that song. First recorded by B. J. Thomas. How quickly they forget …
Who???? (someone else I had to look up)
B.J. Thomas is the name that I remember too. But the voice in the Blue Swede video is the one that I remember.
And yes, I was singing the song to myself before I saw the comments.
That spider is a little strange looking, but he definitely has everybody’s attention!
His biggest hit was by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. In a little movie you may possibly have heard of: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Starring two young unknowns named Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
Damn, I’m old … how the heck did that happen?
The original. No Ooga-Chakas need apply.
Serves Larry right for having a coven of cats in his home, do you really want a mobilizing force depending on YOU for kitty krunchies and clean litter?
Cats, Halloween and spiders.
Always reminds me of Henri and his typical seasonal angst.
I too thought of Henri but was too lazy to look for a link. Oh, Henri, how I pine for you!
