So, Does it Look Natural?

“You think it looks natural? I think it looks natural. You can hardly tell, right? It feels natural — well, mostly natural. They say you can even go swimming in it, and it still looks natural. So it looks natural, right?”

Thanks, NTMTOM, I really needed some cynocephaly to brighten my morning.

Some traditions, particularly within the Eastern Orthodox church, depict Saint Christopher as a dog-head person, possibly due to a typo between the Latin word for Canaanite (Cananeus ) and the one for canine (canineus ).

There’s also a lot of medieval Catholic art showing the Cynocephalic “monstrous races” as demons and heretics. I’ve got a great book on the subject that became the basis for a terrific lecture.

Doggie, your hair looks more realistic than some I’ve seen. Not naming any names.

OoooOOOoooo! What’s the name of the book? I love weird stuff like that. I want it for the spot on my bookshelf between Malleus Maleficarum and The Effects of Nuclear Weapons.

Saracens, Demons, & Jews: Monsters in Medieval Art. I’m sure you can find it for less than $674 somewhere.

                THAT is DISTURBING.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe strongly that it’s important to remember these chapters of history. But I wish still more strongly—fervently!—that such equations were not still being made and promoted (not by the book or by you DebG, of course—you’re not promoting the viewpoint, I’m sure).

Lmao, oh well. I’ve added it to my Amazon wishlist, “books I covet but am unlikely to own.” It’ll sit there alongside Rocket Sled, Ignition: an Informal History of Rocket Fuel, and
The Witch on the Wall: Medieval Erotic Sculpture in the British Isles.

In the mean time, if anyone knows any rich businessladies looking for a balding computer nerd to call their own, please drop your friendly neighborhood booby a line.

I have to do that all the time here – I have no idea what folks are talking about, especially when they mention shows about – I don’t even know what to call it! Some sort of modern mythology? Clueless.?

Maybe its the yellow fur or the ridiculous attempt to hide the double chin and bad squint, but he flashed on Trump for me.

But much cuter. I”d actually cuddle this one.
