Draped in Mystery

I’ll never forget the night our eyes met. It was at the annual Mouser Society Masquerade Ball and Charity Jingle Toy Auction. I saw her across the crowded ballroom and was captivated at once. Her feathered headdress and delicate veil did nothing to hide her beauty. My great regret was that I never learned her name…

It’s Hapzblatch. Hazel Hapzblatch.

😀 Did you just make that up? Or is that a known joke?

Well-known joke to US folks of my late-boomer generation—at least, in my neck of the woods.

          Knock-knock?
          Who’s there?
          Sam and Janet.
          Sam and Janet who?
          [Cue the punch line]

It is such an wonderfully awful knock-knock; how did I not know this joke? My life is better now with such knowledge.

This song turns me into a puddle – always has.

Little late for Mardi Gras, ain’t it?

      But such an enchanting mask!

So much to love about this post… I can’t decide if my favorite thing is the drapery pun, the charity jingle toy auction, or the photo itself.

      Or Hazel’s handle!
