One thing I dread every year is hearing about all the bunnies and chickies who are neglected, abandoned or otherwise treated like so much refuse after Easter. I’m hopeful that this will someday no longer be an issue. π
And I love, love, love the peeps’ art!! π

Usually Iβm not for more laws but this is one ban I wish every state had on 90% of the animals sold in a pet store. There are plenty of animals that can be adopted or rescued. And too many hoomins impulse buy these eventually neglected or not properly cared for, innocent animals. I know many of us have commented on how many pet store employees are not properly educated on the proper care, housing and feeding of these animals. Itβs all about the bottom $$$.

Totally agree with you! I used to have up to 9! adopted buns–when I was younger, had more energy and a bigger house! All year, I try to educate my second graders on the responsibility of having a pet.
Also approve of the bilby becoming a replacement as it is sufficiently cute π and in need of our help! I would like to see those chocolates!π

I’m right there with you. Maybe I can push for a similar law in Colorado. It’s one of the many reasons I shop for supplies at Petsmart because they carry almost no live animals (birds, reptiles, and specialty guinea pigs)–no bunnies, cats, or dogs except for rescues.

People still do this? I thought this nonsense ended a generation or so ago.

I was thinking about the Peeps dioramas last night so thank you for saving me the trouble of googling! Candy Warhol is awesome and the college admissions cracked me up. Love the Opeepra house! Peeple are so amazingly creative!
We used to have a pet store in the mall here but the mall company banned them several years ago from all their malls. The county SPCA took over the space and turned it into an adoption center. They don’t even always keep animals there and mostly sell pet supplies and other merchandise to raise money. (Though I heard they were closing it but I’m not sure if they did yet.)
Legendary sender-inner Sharon H. reminds me that the Peeps Diorama was started by the St. Paul Pioneer Press, which posted a huge slideshow of the entrants of their contest. Here’s the winner, featuring Peeps roasting Peep-le!
