You might know that today is World Penguin Day, but did you know where these fascinating birds come from? Here’s a fun fact from the Center for Irresponsible Science: Penguins are made in special penguin factories and released into the wild. In this video, a crew from International Penguin Inc. delivers a fresh shipment of penguins to its longtime customer, The Ocean.
OK, what’s really happening here is that a team from the Shedd Aquarium is releasing rehabilitated African penguins off the coast of South Africa. Swim, my pretties, swim!
Very, very sweet. They seem alittle bewildered but are finding the water very nice. It looks like they might stick close to the humans until they remember better what all this water is about.
Oh wow how amazing. My heart is swelling with joy for them!! And what’s the story on that first guy?? He shoots out of the box and heads out like nobody’s business!! 😍
Turns out there’s two kinds of penguin: the kind that charges out of the box, and the kind that must be dumped.
I get scrambling to get back in the box, no orcas, no killer seals, free fish for life…..
Looks like the kid from Sixteen Candles who had to be (repeatedly) forced to go to the dance by his parents.
The more reluctant ones hadn’t changed into their swim togs yet…
There might be only the one kind. Ones that have to be dumped. The one that charged might be a looney.
Good bye and thanks for all the fish!
Ha ha perfect! Always wanted to use that line somewhere sometime! 😁
They can deliver penguins to me anytime! Sadly, I’m far from the ocean.
Well done! I think there should be a special tag for “Center for Irresponsible Science” posts.
I like it! Done!
