Hello, everybody, I’m just looking over the last of the Halloween leftovers. Let’s see, there’s a roll of Smarties, some loose candy corn, and… hey! some kitten cosplay action from reader Squiddy, which she titles “An alternative telling of the Dracula legend.”

That is ridiculously cute. And I’d like to know how did they get the kitties into and stay in the costumes? No wonder the “victim” is a little cranky. Hey if anyone wants any leftover Halloween candy I have a bowl at my house. Ummm, somewhere, rummaging through bags and boxes, I swear I just saw it. Oh well, I’ll probably find it in time for next Halloween.
Still getting setup in the new place, turned in keys for the old house yesterday so, done! with the old property manager and her slower than molasses responses to maintenance. Found out the owner of the house is fed up as well, he’s giving her a 30 day notice of ending his contract. Not too much planned for this weekend. Hockey tonight and more unpacking tomorrow. And sometime I need to do regular chores like groceries, etc. I never thought I’d say this but I’m a little tired of eating out so time to plan some home cooked meals for next week.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!
The magical thing is, they are totally fine with costumes (no hats!). This has revolutionized my world. I have just bought them both Christmas red velvet capes, and plan on dressing them up for every major holiday (and some I just make up).
They are also fine with a harness and leash. And with being in the car.
I’m not entirely sure they are actually cats.
Hah. Those really are very suspicious facts.Nonetheless, I would go with lots of costumes too! Think about video!
Are you sure they’re not aliens dressed in cat suits? Wait, cats ARE aliens!
Happy Caturday! Such a cute little vampire!
So apparently Wednesday was World Kindness Day, and this happened. No disrespect to the wonderful land of Cutetropolis, but this might be the cutest thing ever.
Newborns at Pittsburgh hospital dressed up as Mister Rogers to celebrate World Kindness Day
Haircut this afternoon. I’ll decide when I get there how much to chop off.
Tomorrow’s my dad’s 80th birthday. He doesn’t want a big thing but my mom arranged a surprise cake for after church; my brother and I are going to go over there shortly before the service lets out (he’d be suspicious if we actually showed up for the service 😉 ) and she asked me to pick up a balloon on the way. Or maybe I’ll get it after my haircut and whatever errands I end up doing after that. The party store opens at 10 on Sundays which would give me 45 minutes to get a balloon and get to the church, which should be more than enough time, but I know my ability to get out of bed on a weekend is…unpredictable…so…. Then we’re going to dinner later (I’m thinking filet mignon…) and probably just hang at their house in between.
This article has video of Mrs. Rogers visiting the babies.

Also the sweaters and ‘sneakers’ were knitted by one of the nurses. 🙂
I’d like to see a movie with these two.
Modern day maidens bite back Mr. Dracula!
Beginning to go through all my boxes that are stored in my future art studio room. I have enlisted the help of my housemate’s 12 year old daughter who is a good artist with the enticement of sharing the studio. By this time next year the room will be set up and equipped with better lighting, ac, and tv art tables and supplies for drawing, oil painting jewelry making and crafts. Then I get to remake my tiny bedroom for more comfortable sleeping. Saving the money needed to buy the tv ac and a new bed and have everything installed should take about the time I need to get everything organized. Very happy. Ecstatic actually. 😜
Sounds great!
Happy Caturday!
The Duckie household is rather up-and-down right now. Not only was I denied getting Duckie back, but I also got the opportunity to test a skinny pig, and HE set off my breathing problems! And now strata informs me that I am limited to either birds (no) or two fish (which are not really interactive, and which I’m unable to have unless I get someone else to do the cleaning)! So I couldn’t have a skinny pig even if I could! Grumble.
On the other end of things, which began as a low, hubby had to tell his boss that we cannot live on the wages he’s being paid. Right after that meeting, he got a call from an old job site telling him that positions are opening there, and did he want to come in to talk?
I will admit that we’d rather he keep current job, but the company he’s working for is so…%#£+*~@! that it’s frustrating. Low wages and no benefits, and I’ve been waiting several weeks for a prescription that I need but we can’t afford. New job, should it happen, offers higher wages plus immediate benefits, but the work is dreadful.
To make things worse (or better), I found a perfect job for my qualifications that would have helped pay our bills and let him work part time, but discovered that they needed me full time. I can’t. I physically can’t. The amusing thing is, they haven’t found anyone who CAN do it full time who has the right qualifications. So I’m waiting to see how THIS one plays out.
Mike, just so you know, Cutetropolis has literally been a lifesaver for me this week. Just knowing there is a community of people here that fully supports each other has kept me from hitting rock bottom. And to everyone in our group, having you being willing to listen is such a positive for me. I thank you all.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone, and here’s to hoping that next week is better.
PS Squiddy, your two darlings are as adorable and heart lifting as always.
Always here Duckie. Hopefully they take you Part Time. So short sighted at that job. And short sighted at husband’s current. Maybe some combination that suits the Duckie household will fall into place.
P. S. Betta Fish are lovely and only need small all in one tanks. They recognize you!
I’m so glad you feel supported here. Unfortunately, you’ve got lots to deal with.
What Dubravka said. Plus hugs. 🦆🦆🦆
Wait. Aren’t you Sylvie? (wink)
Hahahahaha!
That seemed to have been a fleeting glitch…😁😁!!
A glitch in the Matrix? 😮
Maybe they would consider letting you and another person share a full-time position. It’s been done elsewhere.
Hmmm. A possibility. Some days I don’t have time to comment so Sylvie could fill in!
Duckie, you know we’re always here for you. Sorry about this rough patch and sending kitty purrs to help you get thorugh it.
Ok, I am usually all about the furry ones, but newborns dressed as Mr. Rogers – ❤️❤️❤️
Cutest vampire story ever! I’m envious of being able to put costumes and harnesses on, Lily won’t put up with anything like that.
Been a busy week, but I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things! Got a new pair of shoes that are really helping my foot, knee and back… so nice to not be in pain all the time.
Here’s a blast from the past to celebrate Nosevember!
Boop!
Soft kisses on the nose freckles.
I bought the bat wings costume for my black cat, and was able to keep it on her just long enough to take a couple of photos, but I think it would have looked better if she had sat down so you could see the wings better. Oh well- we’ll try again next year. I was impressed that she even let me put it on her.
We had the wonderful folks from the local baptist church come rake our leaves this morning- a service they provide at no cost once a year which is much appreciated, since we have a huge maple tree and end up with tons of leaves. They’re super nice people, too, and they always bring a few little kiddos with them that are so fun to hang out with.
This afternoon we’re off to Seattle, for the second time this week (went to the auto show on Thursday because I won tickets…which ended up being kind of a fiasco…long story but it all turned out OK in the end). Today we’re going to have our pictures taken with the Sounders (MLS soccer) championship trophies, one from 2016, and one from last weekend’s championship victory. I guess this is actually the third time in a week going to Seattle.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
American Gothic:Chicken Edition
OMG that’s so awesome! Ha ha love it!
(Totally chased away the “Christmas season blues” that have started creeping in today. Why? I really don’t know.)
I’ve been feeling that way lately, too. Maybe it’s the weather…
I rofled.
Thanks.
PS hubby is pre-gloating over what will happen when he sees his boss on Monday. No matter what, he will come out ahead. And whether he stays with current job or takes new one, current boss will be gnashing her teeth.
I might be starting to take a little pleasure in his gloating.
Oh yes Allein! You hit the nail on the head. Time for the festive anxiety!
🎉😲😳
Happy Caturday, everyone! I’m late posting, and didn’t even chime in last weekend, because my weekends have been kinda busy.
Today I’ve made cupcakes from scratch and soaked yarn to try speckle dyeing. Over the last week, I swatched undyed handspun yarn that has been sitting around for years and gathered some suitable patterns for it. There’s enough for at least 4 different garments, so that means 4 different dye baths once I finally settle on colors.
Squiddy, the boys are as adorable as ever. Even if they’re aliens.
Speaking of Halloween leftovers, I must apologize to reader DebG. Last month she mentioned a very special cake she was baking for a party, and sent me a photo and I forgot to post it! So here it is, in all its glory… the kitty litter cake!
AIIYEEEEEEEEE!
Holy shite Debg, you out did yourself. That is so gross!!!! Um, well done? 😀
Ummm. Yummy?
Nothing on earth would induce me to dig into that. Congratulations? DebG!
Commiserations to Duckie, and congrats to all with good news.
I’ve put in a 10+ hr day of work today, and it’s long past my bedtime—but with rehearsal starting at a late hour, I still need to unwind before calling it a day. Happy Sunday, all! Only four minutes away!
DebG that is unbelievable!! What, pray tell, has gone into this “cake”??!!
It’s basically trifle: chocolate cake, white cake, Nilla Wafers ground up and mixed with food coloring, and slightly melted Tootsie Rolls for the poops. I promised “scary cake” for the Halloween potluck at work, and this is the scariest thing I ever see.
OMG slightly melted Tootsie Rolls!! I am just howling!! 💩😹
Do penguins pass gas?Lets find out!
Yes,they do!
Science!
