How Do You Brush a 900-Pound Bear?

Very carefully. Especially if the bear is a frisky fella who would rather roughhouse than sit still for a grooming. “All his life Leo was an amazing wrestler,” says the staff of the Orphaned Wildlife Center in New York state where Leo lives. “Leo would love to wrestle with (his caregiver) Jim like that but obviously Jim is no match for 900-pound Leo.” (via Murray C.)

Maybe Leo needs one of those carwash standing brushes so he can brush himself when he feels the need, and Jim can be safer.

My only questions is why does Leo even need to be brushed?? I thought bears did just fine without, only thing they did was rub up against a tree to groom themselves. In any case, the keeper is braver than me.

I think Leo just wants to be brushed. There are earlier videos on the Center’s page showing Leo snd Jim rolling around cuddling. Leo’s claws are, um, impressive.
