I think “soup of dinner” is one of mugumogu’s more interesting translations. When Maru stood up (and until then I had not even noticed he was wearing a box!) and walked away, the box started to slip, and then he walked out of it — do you think he did that on purpose? At the end, yes, I think he was arching his back to make it slide further so he could get out of it, but at first I couldn’t see any reason for it to be slipping, yet it did. It was like he was invisibly pushing it backwards. I think he took it off so he could have the pleasure of putting it back on again.
