I’m in love with Peach, I think she’s the cutest thing ever!
WARNING The 4th orangutang story in the video has images that are hard to see.
I’ve started to check for palm oil in things and I’ve stoped buying Nutella because it has palm oil in it. It is also in some peanut butter.
Check the ingredients on the label, it can save lives!
Can’t watch the orangs right now cuz I’m at work but I have a feeling that’s just as well.
I’ve seen Peach before; love her so much! I really want to pet her.
Thank you for the sadness warning! I will certainly be more vigilant about palm oil in future.
I cried through the videos. Am now going into the kitchen to check the ingredients in my peanut butter.
I did a quick run around my kitchen. Found palm oil in two boxes of cookies and one of crackers. I will stop buying those items, and will write to the companies to tell them soโand why.
Yippee! Skippy Creamy doesn’t contain palm oil.
What really sucks and ticks me off is when the peanut oil in peanut butter is extracted, sold for a good price no doubt, and replaced with palm oil or crap oil. ๐ก
Thanks for the reminder! Palm oil is on my no-buy list, but I don’t always remember to check.
I actually make my own peanut butter, which I’m told is a really 70s thing to do. I buy a big jar of honey-roasted peanuts, put about a cup of them in my food processor, and let it whirrrrrr. If necessary, I add a little peanut oil. I can’t process to total smoothness, but I like the crunch.
Mmmm. Sounds good. Thanks to your and Allein for the recipes. I still got a jar and a little to finish up. When I do make my own, fingers crossed my little chopper or blender can handle the load.
I use my mini choppers; they’re just about big enough to hold an onion (quartered), and they get the job done just fine.
I didn’t know it was that simple to make peanut butter, I just may try it myself.
I want to live where the deer lady lives – absolutely gorgeous!
If it’s not Colorado, it’s someplace just as beautiful. (Yes, I love my adopted home.)
Peach in her sweaters. Thunk.
Lady Purrl and Cinder the husky. Double thunk.
Pieru and his loving family. Ded.
The bird hot tub is like a luxury spa. i wish I had someplace to build such a thing.
You can build one for me! Those birds looked so happy. Loved the tail twitching.
I don’t have such a luxurious place for our bird visitors, I just use a big plastic plant saucer and put in a heater. It has a ramp so little birds don’t get in too deep – it is a very popular spot!
Kitties, and possums, and deer, and baby orangs, oh my!! Loving the links today. That birdie hot tub is ingenious. I mean really, who wouldn’t love some warm(er) water in winter vs trying to break thru ice?
Checked peanut butter. Heavy sigh, it has palm oil. Guess no more of that brand and it was my favorite – less sugar and salt than the other brands. Wonder if almond butter uses it? Otherwise it’s back to the all natural brands with just 2 ingredients – peanuts and some salt. Or how hard is it to make your own?? Hmmm.
Got a food processor?

(That’s just the first three results from googling “homemade peanut butter recipe.”)
I posted my “recipe” above. Super-easy. Plus you know exactly what’s going into the stuff.
So much cute this morning. Almost makes up for yesterday (which didnโt happen).
Made a fruitcake. Looked beautiful, smelled awesome. Tipped it out of the pan onto a towel to cool. Realized too late that the inside hadnโt baked properly. Fruitcake broke in two and spilled its batter guts all over the towel.
Baked GF chocolate chip cookies. Forgot to turn oven down. 12 cookies on the pan went in. One giant cookie came out.
Made Yorkshire pudding for supper. Left the empty pan of drippings too long in the oven, which set off the smoke detector, which set off Duckie. She still hasnโt forgiven me this morning.
Did a load of laundry for all the cloths, towels, etc used in baking, especially the towel the fruitcake died on. Went into laundry room when washer stopped to put load in dryer, and found it still on the floor. Iโd done the entire cycle on an empty washer.
Mike, Iโm going to be spending a lot of time on the site today. I need the cute.
You’re understandably distracted.
^ Exactly.
I’d quit cooking and baking for a bit, if possible. And at least now your washer is clean. ๐
I’m sure little Duckie will forgive you. I must say, she sounds like a pip. Never a dull moment with her!
Special for Duckie!
This made me happy
Especially with the bonus ringtailed lemur!
I love the lemur!
Love it!!! This video is just what the doctor ordered! ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ And on days like that, I take it easy and tell myself that this too shall pass. It’s either that or go lie on the chesterfield with the vapours and a wet cloth for the head.
That’s good, too. Don’t forget to bathe your temples with cologne.
Have to watch this whenever it shows up! For some reason it makes me smile and feel happy ๐
Duckie, I think I would just pretend like yesterday never happened, snuggle little Duckie, and listen to some soothing Christmas Music. [[huggs]]
Here’s an hour or so of Christmas music for ya’…

I would suggest a cordial of brandy or cognac. Maybe a hot toddy as you open up a tin of Scandinavian butter cookies.
you mean the sewing kit?
Eeezackle.
I laughed out loud at this. This takes me back and was so my mom. She was (in)famous for keeping all the extra buttons in cookie tins. One of my nieces told me the first time she found one of the tins in the sewing room she was so disappointed when she discovered it was only buttons. She thought grandma was trying to hide cookies from her and her sister.
lol…my grandmother had a small bookcase up in the bedroom my brother and I slept in at their house that had a bunch of candy tins on it. They were filled with beads. (I loved playing with them.)
One giant cookie you say… I see that as a plus! >:3 XD
That would be my first reaction too.
I know, right?
Made me think of the giant cinnamon roll I heard about last week…you take a package of Grands cinnamon rolls, put one in the middle of a baking sheet, then unroll the rest and wrap them around until you have one giant cinnamon roll.
Duckie, hugs to you. Days like that are no fun.
What a horrible day you’ve had Duckie, don’t give up because …
You guys know me,
I’ll be the one over there screaming Knitted Tag over those teeny possum sweaters.
I had a cat like that. She’d look directly at me while she knocked stuff off the table. I’d put it back up and she’d knock it back down immediately.
How is it that wild birds have a hot tub spa and I don’t?
My mom puts greeting cards up on top of the TV cabinet. Stripes used to get up there and methodically knock them down one by one. Didn’t knock down anything else, just cards.
That’s why we know the earth isn’t flat – because if it were cats would make sure there’s nothing left on the surface.
I think Duckie has forgiven me. I was permitted to put some oat groats in her food dish, and now sheโs puffed up on her perch above the heater, looking at me and quietly squeaking.
Hubby ate all the edible parts of the fruitcake liberally topped with butter.
The cookies taste pretty darn good, even if they look dreadful.
Iโm ignoring the washer.
