Maru’s ability to pour himself into seemingly impossible shapes exceeds that of so-called “normal” cats. Today he will fill a fishbowl so fully that you’ll swear you can see a goldfish swimming around in him.
But not all felines are so fluid, and this has led to the creation of the Maru Meltability Index, a scale of liquidity ranging from “portable folding ironing board” (Hana), through “pocket umbrella that finally collapses on third try” (Miri), to “liquid robot from Terminator 2” (Maru).

Kitten Miri Does Most Kitten Thing Possible
It’s a ball of yarn! An actual ball of yarn! It’s not just a cat toy, it’s the cat toy!

Perfect sized fish bowl for Maru XD <3
I’m sure Maru wishes there was a goldfish in there with him…
The video showing each of them dealing with the fish bowl was fascinating. They’re so different! Hana was impatient with this nonsense. For Kitten Miri it was a learning experience. And Maru? I now suspect his spine is constructed differently.
Kitten Miri has found her metier. Yarn ball! YES!
Truly fascinating. Hana is too refined for shenanigans. Kitten Miri’s twirling around with her butt in the air was hilarious. But, Maru, I got claustrophobic watching him smoosh himself in. Not only is he truly liquid, but about 90% fluff – how else could he fit?
I was a little worried about Maru also. But he is truly a liquid, and seeks enclosure.
I couldn’t finish any of the fish bowl videos. I began having nightmares just watching.
Maru meltability? ALL THE STARS!!!
Also, I love that she could stir Maru in the first video.
