Cleo is the cutest cat burglar ever. Love how he’s so proud of his kills.

That is one busy cat!😳 I mean, I expected just a few things, but that is like a yard sale!

It’s so fluffy I’m going to die!

I could’ve told you that our overlords, I mean cats are perfect.

    Love this one.

I was gonna post that one, too. “Get off my branch!”

Very intriguing theory about why cats are perfect, besides all the usual reasons we already know about. So happy for all the adopted babies and Johnny Cat. Comedy photos are just hilarious. My fav, as this is how I feel on too many days.

Thieving feline is too much and steals too much, I loved the sign “He has no remorse so I apologize on his behalf”. Reminds me of a cat in England but I think he only stole underwear. If my cat did that, I think I’d move, lol.

Loved Johnny the cat and the dementia pup (though I couldn’t bear more than a few seconds of the latter video). Rescue babies are always amazing.

Am I the only one disturbed that somebody writing in Scientific American doesn’t realize that cats are in fact quite social (towards each other, not just towards human)? And that pandas aren’t actually bears–it’s just a nickname?

Your comment had me going straight to the article! Then, to search the net! This is what I found.

“For many decades, the precise taxonomic classification of the giant panda was under debate because it shares characteristics with both bears and raccoons. However in 1985, molecular studies indicate the giant panda is a true bear, part of the family Ursidae.” Wikipedia
And there really is a “sloth bear” that is not a sloth! Didn’t know that!

I don’t think she was really saying much about how domestic cats are socially, or how they CAN be. Lions have prides, but all other cats may be with their young if a mom, but pretty solitary otherwise. She was mostly talking of wild cats. There is always more diversity, eventually, in the animals we domesticate. How many times have you known a warm cuddly kitten, turn into an aloof cat? It’s one of the reasons I like kittens, but reserve judgement about adult cats.

Thanks, 6Rabbits. Obviously I’m behind the times on my bear knowledge! I did know there was a sloth bear, though it’s not related to sloths.

One of my fave cat gurus, who blogs on The Way of Cats, has explanations about why friendly kittens can turn into aloof adults. Domestic cats live on the “what have you done for me lately?” model.

😂 to “what have you done for me lately?“ model. 😂

      • kar October 6, 2023 / 11:35 pm

        Strangely I’m the opposite.

If I want an animal who’s going to slobber, steal food off my plate and fall asleep on me and my couch because they’re indiscriminate, well, won’t go there.

When an adult cat chooses to honor you with their aloof presence, its like being accepted by the mean girls.

        • 6rabbits October 7, 2023 / 8:32 am

I believe you are right. It’s just how many cats you have to have to get one that will bond with you?🤷🏼‍♀️

    So cats’ perfection is science!

The dog with dementia story is really painful. I don’t know what I would do.

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom October 6, 2023 / 8:16 pm

Ricky had bouts of dementia in his final year. I think what Piper’s dad is doing for his little one is 100% perfect. I think when your bond of love is strong, you find a way to rise to the occasion.

WARNING: Some nuffing follow. Skip if you don’t want your mood depressed. I’ll understand, believe me.

I’m really sorry I read the “Adorable Adopted Critters” article. There was a rescue story in there so upsetting I almost threw up. DON’T look for it. If you missed it, be glad. These things need to come with a warning. Maybe printed in white, too, so you have to choose to highlight them to read them. I would have done that with this comment, only I don’t know how.

      • allein 🐾 October 6, 2023 / 8:27 pm

I know which you’re referring to; I had to stop reading for a minute. I wasn’t sure if I should mention it or not (also, I didn’t read it until later while I was working, well after I first commented).

        Big virtual hugs.

        • Kar October 6, 2023 / 11:29 pm

Stupid me decided that I needed to read these if just to see the smug, happy faces of the animals.

If anyone wants to carpool with some pitchforks and torches to a certain farm, I’ll drive and won’t even ask for gas money.

          • 6rabbits October 7, 2023 / 8:41 am

Couldn’t find what you all are referring to, and that’s probably for the best! I will carpool anyway, and I actually have a pitch fork rake that might be handy!

            • Ricky & Bibi's Mom October 7, 2023 / 7:33 pm

              Thank you all for the hugs and understanding. I still get collywobbles when the memory comes back. {{{shudder}}}

    • Kar October 6, 2023 / 11:21 pm

Sounds like they’re doing the right thing by just reassuring him and being with him.

I guess it’s a bad thing that the number of these cases are on the rise but on the plus side its because our pets are living longer.
