Stormy and Ashley are so sweet together, what a wonderful childhood this little girl is having playing in the mud with her wombat best friend in the morning and then coddling in bed together at night.

They are so wonderful together! I’ve never wanted to switch roles with a young child So Much💕☺️

Yeah, that’s an ideal life. I hope they can enjoy each other for a long time.

I really, REALLY, need to visit Japan! All the animal cafes would keep me busy, but that rickshaw ride was very nice. Better than in a bus cos you go slow enough to see everything. Cutetropolis trip to Japan?

I’m in! I’ve wanted to visit all the cute spots in Japan (plus, you know, the history stuff) for at least a decade.

Japan is very hight on my wish list of places to visit just above South Korea.

All cats are beautiful, but Riggs is a stunner

He’s like some sort of velveteen tiger-panther. Tanther? Piger?

That *is* a gorgeous cat. Would like to cuddle. Now.

Gives new meaning to the phrase “a feather in your cap”…

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Also that barn owl looks really heavy–wouldn’t your neck get sore after a while? Not to mention all the claw marks on the scalp.

        Okay, you made me google…

“Barn owls are 12 to 16 inches in length and typically weigh between one and 1.5 pounds. The females tend to be longer and heavier than the males.”

I met a cockatoo at the park once; the owner let me hold him and I was surprised at how light he was (and how soft his feet were). The guy put him on my hand and he promptly ran up my arm to my shoulder (apparently trying to get my headphones). (Though he was still young, I think, and not very big.) Birds have pretty light and airy bones so they’re lighter than you’d expect. But still, 1.5 pounds sitting on your head would start to feel like a lot.

(He also had a green Amazon parrot and a Sun Conure. The Amazon whistled at me (after several attempts to get him to say hello) and the Conure ignored me completely. I was walking on the path behind them; I saw the guy’s son (around 10) with the cockatoo, and I kept hearing a whistling sound that seemed to be coming from the dad but it wasn’t until I caught up to them that I realized the other two were riding on a stick he was holding and it was the Amazon whistling.)

For reference, a US army helmet weighs between 3.1 and 4.2 pounds depending on size. A woodchuck can weigh 7 to 12.

That settles it–I will never wear a woodchuck as a hat.

              🤣

OK, not to be pedantic (which you know means I’m going to be 😛 ) but I’m pretty sure that’s a great gray owl, not a barn owl. Still only 2.5 lbs, though, which is much lighter than it looks!

I appreciate exactitude with facts! And clearly I need to brush up on my owls–I can only identify great horned owls and Hedwigs.
