Happy Caturday, fellow Cutetropolitans! We’re having open thread outdoors today, under the watchful eye of Jacques, from reader Tara O.
Despite his health issues over the winter and turning 18 this month, he still insists on being the supervisor. I thought I’d have to give him an emeritus position, but he has surprised me.
I was working on the roses in the front this week and was thoroughly inspected and supervised.
As you can see, Butch has no interest in this sort of responsibility.
That’s a LOT of rose bushes!
Very nice weather today, hope to get some yard work done🙄
Got my new patio doors installed yesterday and they are da bomb! Anderson windows did a great job!
And if I could get the photo to copy I’d place it here!😑
Usually I don’t join Saturday conversations. I asked for help once before about submitting here. I can send videos to my email address but not to Cutetropolis. I get a reply of email address not found. I send it to what Mike has under submissions, which is submissions@cutetropolis.com. But I keep getting the same failed delivery message. Any more suggestions?
Have you emailed Mike with a regular message to see if he has any ideas?
It’s great to have you join us on a Saturday.
Good idea, I’ll try that next. Thanks
Weird; I’ve submitted stuff recently with no problems.
(The last one hasn’t been used, so far, though. Might share it next weekend if he doesn’t use it.)
I tried what Debg suggested, sending a regular message to Mike and it went through. I copied and pasted a short video to my email account just fine but when I used Cutetropolis email address, it wouldn’t deliver – this frustrates and baffles me. I’m doing this from a tablet.
Are you using submissions@cutetropolis.com? Found out a while ago that I was using the old address🙄.
Can you paste it to this comment section? I am also using a tablet and have had trouble due to my ignorance, and not knowing what questions to ask!
I was able to email the video to my email address. I even tried forwarding my email to Mike but it wasn’t delivered. And yes, I used the email you show above. Obviously I’m not doing something right. It’s a cute video of a grey Lionhead bunny clumsily throwing this guy’s cellphone, which was in his hand.
Yes! I’ve seen that on Pinterest. It’s hysterical!!😂
Good choice, I’ve watched it many times.

This should take you to it and I can’t believe
I made it work😳
Sent to Mike also👍🏼
Yes, that’s it! I love how the rabbit almost hits the guy with the phone. Thanks for sending it to Mike. This is the only website that I interact on. My husband or I aren’t on any social media website/apps.
Are you sending an actual video file? It may be too large. OTOH, if you’re sending a link to a video, that should go through.
He looks great for 18! And I’m in awe of your gorgeous rose bushes. I have no luck with plants, according to my husband I could even kill fake ones, lol.
Nothing exciting here this weekend, just usual errands and maybe a movie. I cleaned and did laundry earlier this week so more free time to do fun stuff. I have a Lego Club meeting later but still deciding about going as it’s a evening instead of the usual afternoon meeting. Happy weekend everyone!
Happy Caturday.
Tomorrow we’re doing mother’s day because my brother was away last weekend. What are we doing? I don’t know because doesn’t answer me.
Here’s doggies.
Warning: includes a sad story.
Thanks for posting these Allein – I love the doggy updates.
Me too!
Hi Everyone! Aw – my schatzie made it to Cutetropolis! Yay! Currently we are all cuddled up in bed as is our Saturday morning ritual. I need to go to the vet today and pick up more thyroid meds for him. I too, have lots of gardening to do. Hopefully my former neighbor will stop by this afternoon for a visit. We haven’t had a good talk in a long time.
Tomorrow is Stitch & Bitch. I’ve knitted a second whale, but turned it inside out so the purl side is visible. I would like a review on which is preferred. And then I’m starting a sweater for a co-worker. I don’t normally knit for people outside my family, but she is such a dear friend, doesn’t knit, (and paid for the yarn) so I am happy to oblige!
Glad that Jacques is doing well, he is very handsome. I too am surprised sometime by what Minnie can still do at 17.
Jacques looks like a very good boss, and he’s so handsome! Butch doesn’t have to help–he can just relax and smell the flowers.
I’m about to head out for a haircut, then brunch and a few errands. The rest of the day, I’ll be warping for a snazzy lap blanket for my nephew. It’s the last of the gifts I’m making for the family trip in a month–everything else will be purchased.
Last weekend, I went on a yarn crawl southwards to find the perfect match for a sweater for myself (two colors of handspun, plus this commercial but hand-dyed yarn): I’m almost done with the body and need to try on. I will do another another yarn crawl to the north next weekend. There’s a big yarn sale at one of my fave online stores on Monday, so shopping in person will wait. Gotta spread out these yarn purchases! And then the weekend after Memorial Day, I go up to the Estes Park Wool Market. I’m hoping for more llama hugs like last year.
Hugs to you all.
Do you spin or card your own yarn?
Watched some interesting videos the other day that showed how to use contraptions I didn’t even know existed!
I often spin my own yarn. I have a drum carder and will soon have another gizmo to prep clean fleece for spinning.
There’s something oddly satisfying about the combination of a black cat and red flowers…
My four days in Avebury last week were most enjoyable. On the first day I visited the museum in Devizes to see some Stonehenge-related items already familiar to me from books, but my favourite exhibit was probably a 6000 year old ceremonial axe made of jadeite, hand-polished to a glossy sheen. It was found by a farmer’s wife and used as…a letter-opener. Sadly, it proved to be TOO sharp so she threw it out of a window, thereby causing more damage to the item than it had sustained in six millenia! The rest of my holiday was spent wandering round the stones, earthworks, and the massive bulk of Silbury Hill. The amount of work put into these monuments really makes Stonehenge look like a modest landscaping project, and I suspect that Avebury’s prehistoric name was something like “that place occupied by people with far too much time on their hands”.
Having time to absorb beautiful things is never a waste!
Such beautiful roses! Also I love the rest of the greenery that we can see from the angle in which the pictures were taken.
Jacques is a very handsome supervisor.
I’ll probably be spending the weekend weaving. I wove about half of what I had warped on the loom and then had to cut it off, due to a combination of loose warp threads and running out of room on the front roller. I’ll finish weaving the rest of the fabric and hope I don’t have any more problems.
Technical details: I have an Erica Table Loom and am weaving double-wide fabric. I had done this once before without any problems, but I must be doing something different this time. Still learning how to use my loom, but being ambitious at the same time.
Belphebe, I do double weave all the time. You can reach out to me if you wish–I might have some ideas for you.
Tara, I meant to tell you, your black cats are lovely and it helps to have a snoopovisor. The reddish (?) roses stand out amongst the greenery, that seems to hide the surrounding buildings.
