Introduced by Flurnston Boils, host of WQTE’s “Horror Hoedown”
Happy Halloween, boys and ghouls! Help yourself to a handful from my haunted bowl of treats! I’ve got candy corn, Necco wafers, some menthol cough drops, a couple of cigarette butts — and these mind-bending links of cuteness to render you helpless with delight! BWAH-hah-hah!
On my way to work I pass a cemetery, and this morning it was covered with a layer of mist, low to the ground. Very spooky. (Then I pass another cemetery further up the road and by the time I got there the fog was gone.)

I feel my inherent political correctness kicking in over the IHOP costume but puppy is happy and with his people so that’s what matters.
And really, really cute.

When you mention spider dogs you invoke the spirit of the ancient horror from Eastern Europe:

I hate Hallowe’en, but these are cute!
I don’t know what was funnier, the elephant stomping a pumpkin, or the blue giraffe tongue inside a pumpkin!

I’m WFH today and people can’t get into my building without an access code. Plus I’m terrified enough for next week. So I’m not really doing Halloween this year. These links are my big celebration–and they’re wonderful. It’s so great to see Flurnston back in action!

I don’t usually get much in the way of trick-or-treaters, if I’m even home; I’m upstairs and the two most visible doors up there usually post ‘sorry, no candy’ signs so kids don’t bother coming up. I usually just pick up a bag or two of peppermint patties (got them on sale at Target a few weeks ago). It’s something I’ll eat if I don’t give them out, but I can’t eat too many at once so they last a while in my house. I’m leaving work early today for an appointment at 4:15, then going to the library on the next street to vote (hoping people will be busy with Halloween stuff and it won’t be too busy), then stopping at Wegmans across the street from there to get a few things. Hopefully I’ll at least be home in time for Jeopardy.

Huskie mom has lots of time on her hands–thank goodness! And the bat cats are simply adorable. Scorpius would never let me put wings on him.

So. Many. Links.😜
Love all the different animals with pumpkins; did you see the chicken-like bird who has orange jabot and head crest? Who knew?
The woman with dog in costumes *really* went out of her way to be top notch!
Laughed out loud at the IHOP dog! Someone is very clever!
Kitties with bat wings are adorbs💙
Loved Hallowe’en as a kid, nearly hated it as a teacher, and do not participate now cos my house is off the beaten track and no one comes.🤷🏼♀️

Dogs in costumes! Love the IHOP dog so much.

Yeah for the return on Uncle Flurnston! I’ll take all the candy corn off your hands. Loving all the links and the costumes. Some people really go over the top. My two won’t put up with any dressing up so I love seeing what other people come up with. IHOP tripod dog is so cute and great play on words. Favorite one (beside all the kittens with bat wings)
Cracked up at the comment – I wouldn’t accept chocolate covered raisins from these two.
I have on my Happy Halloween shirt and witch sweater and that’s it for my costume. My street doesn’t get any trick or treaters, which is fine by me. Have a spook-tacular Halloween everyone!

I have little jack-o-lantern earrings (which I borrowed from my mom years ago and never gave back), and my owl necklace (which isn’t “Halloween,” really, but it fits the season).

Here’s my sweater. I saw someone wearing one a few years back and I just had to have it. Took a few months trolling Ebay, Poshmark, etc before I found it. Everyone thinks it’s so cool.
That is cool! If I was still teaching I’d want it👍🏼
Ricky & Bibi's MomOctober 31, 2024 / 1:33 pm
Very happy to see Flurnston Boils on the case.
Judging from the Tompkins Square celebration, I’m pretty sure Waldo will never be lost again.
My two favorite puns are Fire Pit and IHOP.
Each Hallowe’en, I tell everyone Bibi is my cat, in a dog costume; and I am disguised, no matter how unconvincingly, as a responsible adult. (You can’t beat the price.)
I’m looking forward to seeing the littles in my building. I have prepared a crate full of small toys as treats. (Our building staff will get more than enough left over candy as it is; left-over toys I can donate to a charity or one of the many schools and pre-schools in my neighborhood.)
The Bob Ross dog was my fave until I saw the last photo!

I have to get a set of batwing for Storm for next year’s Halloween!

I made cardboard bat wings for my first bunny, back in 1990! Waaaaay before videos and easy to post pics. She hopped down the steps and it looked likes she was flying😂

The critters with their pumpkins reminded me of Boo at the Zoo. When I was in grad school in the 90s, would always visit the LA Zoo for their Halloween celebration. We never got such close-up views of the animals, however!
Happy halloween! 🎃 So nice to see Flurnston!
