Good morning! It’s a cloudy Caturday here in New Jersey. Might rain later. I have to go get blood drawn and then I’m having lunch with a friend. I will have a few hours to kill in between and I found a Kohls gift card in a shoe box a couple weeks ago; it has around $75 on it so I’m going to see if I can find new sneakers while I’m out.

The dogs were good again, and if you use facebook or instagram I recommend following Pet Portraits by Hercule.

Ellie’s dramatic kayak rescue reminds me of our childhood dog, Smokey. He was a lab mix who got very nervous when we all would go swimming in the lake. He’d come out with us, swim slowly around everyone in a big circle just to check on us, then go back to shore.

Those earthquake dogs, and the two strays who helped their friend, are my heroes. And I love the animal art, and the artist’s donations for people experiencing homelessness.

Look at that face! That cat is *serious* about accompanying you!

Spring has sprung, with forecasts claiming that parts of Britain may be warmer than Ibiza over the next few days. Sadly the good weather came too late for some of my new plants, which have expired despite being kept under glass or muffled up in little fleece outfits. Why do suppliers insist on sending out plants when there’s still a danger of frost?

In other news, there’s been a slight setback with treatment for my autoimmune hepatitis and my medication is being adjusted. I was aware that it could take some time to get the dosages right, so this didn’t come as a surprise and I don’t really feel any different.

Finally, there’s not long to wait for one of the big theatrical treats of the year – Gary Oldman in Samuel Beckett’s “Krapp’s Last Tape” at my local theatre, where he made his professional debut as Dick Whittington’s Cat in 1979. I just hope Mr Oldman is VERY careful in the scene where he slips on a banana peel in full view of the audience!

Oh I would love to see Gary Oldman slips on a banana peel live on stage!

It’s dangerous out there, take this with you. You can come shopping with me any time cutie, and grab some tuna for you.

Finally the spitzing and cool weather has gone, fingers crossed, and looks like sunshine and warm weather over the next week. Not much going on here, I think it’s going to be a quiet weekend here. Already done laundry, need to clean, run boxes to Goodwill, and then who knows. I have a painting I want to finish, a Lego set to build, and maybe check out what’s new at the library. Enjoy the warm weather, and Happy Spring everyone!

Bags like that, with handles, can be very dangerous for cats who get their heads stuck through them. Not only do the cats panic and run in terror, but they could be strangled.

Love your cats- put the bags away safely when they’re empty.

      • DEBG April 5, 2025 / 1:30 pm

Agreed–the same thing goes for those single-use plastic bags. I’ve had to corral panicked cats to remove the bags from around their necks.

        • allein 🐾 April 5, 2025 / 5:36 pm

Stars got a plastic bag caught around her neck once. She was afraid of them forever after. Also balloons, which I think she thought were floating bags.

BAhaahahah! With a name like Thor – that’s not what I was expecting. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the laugh.

    • DEBG April 5, 2025 / 11:06 am

What Tara said! Who’s the cutest little evil emperor ever????

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 5, 2025 / 4:22 pm

Excellent photo. Please reassure Thor that my participation in the Hands Off March today was not aimed at him.

    • AJ April 5, 2025 / 4:46 pm

Thanks everyone for giggling along with me. The cutest little evil emperor (and his sidekick Val) got a walk in the park this morning, then chicken nuggets and peanut butter granola bar. He’s now home resting and yelling at everyone walking by the house.

      • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 5, 2025 / 4:59 pm

Hee-hee! You go, Thor! Give ’em all heck.

Happy Saturday. It is raining here in Philly, but that’s not going to stop me from going out and getting into good trouble! Have a great weekend y’all! ❤️

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 5, 2025 / 4:22 pm

Did you march? I did. The rain wasn’t nearly as bad in Manhattan as it might have been; and it was worth it.

B&w conversation cats are the best (I may be a little biased). Our weather is going from 68°F (20°C) today to freezing tomorrow morning. Soak up beautiful weather when you can!

Hello everyone, nothing much going on here this weekend, it’s rainy and not very warn out there, spring is very slow to establish itself this year.

I got really mad at Skye on Wednesday because she put a hole in the new living room curtains. After I unhooked her from the curtains I called her a horrible little beast and took her strait to the kitchen to cut her claws, which I was late doing this month so it really was my fault she got stuck in the curtains and I ended up petting her for 30 minutes after that.

Well that’s it for me, I’m off to do laundry, have a good weekend all.

    • DEBG April 5, 2025 / 11:07 am

We can’t stay made at them. Ever.

Happy Caturday! Wish I could bring this little one along for my errands, which need to start ASAP.

We’ve had gorgeous weather this spring, until this week. Flurries yesterday, and there’s snow on the rooftop for now. None on the ground, at least.

I’m not going to the Hands Off protest today because I’m protesting through research. There’s a weird little election coming up in a special tax district for my county, and our group has divvied up the candidates so we can create fact sheets for each one. It’s good to practice now, on a simple little race, before the big ones come up for school board. Crowds make me nervous and I’m good at homework–but hats off to everyone protesting!

I’m going to start planning my next weaving project, from my handspun yarn. The yarn is spectacular: dark purples with some pink, combined with handspun paco-vicuna that is softer than a baby’s bottom. I’ll make more videos for my channel once I have the basic plan settled.

    Hugs to you all!

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 5, 2025 / 4:25 pm

Protesting through research seems like an admirable alternative to marching. Every little helps. Crowds make me nervous, too; I took a heavy-duty prescription tranquilizer and went with a friend. We didn’t have signs, but we saw a whole bunch of really creative, clever, and sassy ones.

    • allein 🐾 April 5, 2025 / 5:48 pm

I don’t like crowds, either, and the thought of joining a protest by myself is frankly a little terrifying. I looked up events in my area; there were a couple about 30-40 minutes from me. One of them I don’t know the area that well and parking around there isn’t great. The other appeared to be near a grocery store not far from work (looks like that one was scheduled to end in the early afternoon). But I had to get blood drawn and already had plans to see my friend, which I don’t do enough and decided I needed for my mental health. I’ve been kind of a hermit lately and drowning myself in news. I need to do less of that…

    Lurking

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 5, 2025 / 4:26 pm

A lot of us marchers waved at friendly Canadians who were cheering from the sidelines. We cherish our neighbors and allies!

  10. AJ April 5, 2025 / 4:49 pm

Thank you to everyone who marched in the protests today. I wish I had know ‘cause I’d been right out there too. We have to let them know that most of us are mad as hell & won’t stand by while they try flushing US rights down the toilet. Hopefully this is the beginning of the tide turning.

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 5, 2025 / 5:00 pm

The next event is May 1. I haven’t seen anything organized for NYC yet, but there’s still time.

  11. allein 🐾 April 5, 2025 / 7:33 pm

Came across this channel last year, maybe; he does cleaning of hoarder houses and the like, and occasionally some basic ‘how to clean stuff’ type videos (he owns a cleaning company that does normal house cleaning; the houses he films for YouTube he does for free), and occasional mental health content based on his experiences with autism and depression. He cleaned up a house a while back so the owner could sell it (if I recall correctly, she inherited it from a relative); then he bought it from her and was planning to fix it up to be used as a sort of transitional home for people getting out of abusive situations, but he and his wife split up around that time and he ended up moving into it himself, so he’s been posting videos of his renovations. His latest room redo is an unused room that he turned into a playroom for his cats (Moose and Also Moose). There isn’t a ton of cute but the cats do make some appearances and the room turned out pretty cool (if you’re a cat, at least). It’s a bit long but you can jump to about 23 minutes if you just want to see the finished product.

(Or I guess the thumbnail shows most of it, actually….and yes, that is basically carpeting on the walls that the cats can climb.)
