Many dogs walk in a circle before lying down to sleep, but some dogs have bedtime rituals that are more specific, like this German Shepherd who plays a nightly game called “monkey hunt.”
Every night starts with a monkey hunt to see where the bad people hid the monkey. Then the monkey is fetched to bed. Then monkey is sucked on for 15 minutes till he is sopping wet. Then monkey is cuddled. The pic is stage 4.

I wish we also had stage 1, 2 and 3 not just stage 4.
Agree!

people demand this.

They are adorable, but I can’t deal with the “sopping wet” bit.
I know all about well loved toys but this is taking it over the top. And the sopping wet part, just ick. Can’t we just skip that step and go straight to the cuddling part?
This is one of the reasons I’m not a “big dog” person. They tend to be more slobbery than the little ones.
Unfortunately, Thor is one of the few slobbery little dogs. He loves to lay in your lap and lick a paw, and lick it, and lick it, and next thing you know you have a lovely wet spot on your jeans. Or he loves licking the back of your neck/ears. Some days, it’s just “bleh” and too over the top.
My recently departed Sevi, and others in a long line of cats, often drooled when they got really happy. It was worth a wet spot on my knee :).
I once had a cat that would start drooling if you said “food time”.
Stars did that. She would knead on me and start dripping. I would try to grab a dish towel.
I hate slobber. Fortunately we always had beagles and they donโt slobber. I could never do a large dog anyway, I just love the small ones too much!
That poor squashed monkey. At least the dog is happy.
