I wanna poke the hedgie tongue. Just a teeny poke…please?
You may.
One of the fascinating things about the animal kingdom is that even the biggest, baddest predators don’t actually want to fight, since even a small injury can have big consequences. Some animals like honey badgers have exploited this through the, uh, mutually assured destruction model of self defense. Then there are pets that fall into the badger role by accident.
I had never thought of honey badgers as MAD animals but you’re right. And honey badger don’t care.
I tend to believe this as well, but then I saw a National Geographic video of a river otter chomping on a gator until it killed it. Mind you, I think the gator was minding his own business and this seemed like a gratuitous attack. Or possibly retaliation for having eaten some other river otter. Who knows how river otters settle their beefs.

The entire weasel family punches way above their weight. Our friend the least weasel can take down full grown rabbits.
Love that little hedgie yawn–it will have me smiling all day!
Next time I go back to The Wild Animal Sanctuary, I’ll look out for that puma. I once had a special relationship with a puma in the Emporia Zoo.
Hedgie’s tongue has a mind of its own. And I thought Val was a fierce lil doggo, Lincoln totally has her beat. I’m just happy that nothing happened to him. I think that bear’s paw was bigger than him so it could have gone oh so wrong so quickly.
If my 5 pound dog was going after a bear I would have been screaming a lot more than that for him to come back!
Happy Canada Day to all Canadians!
Little Duckieโs head looks very much like a hedgehog today. Her new feathers are coming in, and boy! is she grumpy!
Good lord, the TONGUE followed by the YAWN!! I am ded, I tell you, DED!!
Lincoln is ADORABLE! So feisty!๐ I now want a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix๐๐ผ
Canโt imagine what circumstances made her family give up a 14 yo cat, but Iโm glad she was taken in and seems to be thriving with new people. The rolling purrs!
That Puma is eating well, the chonk! How cool to be able to see these animals while picnicking ๐๐ผ
Happy Canada Day, fellow Canadian Cutropolians!
