Hello???? Anyone home?? Can’t believe I’m the first, hope everyone else is having a wonderful lie in or a great day doing amazing things. Kitty can come sit in any of my clothes piles. Such a cutie!
Off to painting class today, then car show tomorrow. In between, need to run a few errands, grocery shop, and (thanks for reminder kitty) do some laundry. And oh yeah, try and stay cool. It finally heated up over here and it’s hitting high 80s today. Last gasp of summer, before fall and cooler temps roll in. Happy weekend all!
You always make the most of your weekends. It’s impressive.
I’m here. I don’t have a feline friend, but I do need to do laundry. Unfortunately that also means I will have to remake the bed and I don’t feel like it. We’ll see how the afternoon feels. Might try to hang up the clothes piled in the baskets in front of my dresser, at least.
“The Celery Stalks at Midnight” (third book in the Bunnicula series)
Tuffy is a real triple-threat.
Hi Allein! we must have posted at about the same time.
Who would steal a dog from a blind man. Only someone truly vile.
Laundry never stops.
Also I have the same reaction to celery. Love the honorable mentions so very much.
Love the Bunnicula books, of course!😁
I despise celery, and resent it showing up in so many recipes. I have it because Pretzel loves it, but NO.
The dog with kisses is too cute, and I have never seen a dog do that kind of deep dive. Kudos! Thank you to who ever rescued the blind man’s dog💗
Am I the only one who likes celery? I like the inner pieces the best; they’re more tender/less stringy. Sprinkle with a little salt. (I don’t like it cooked, though. I tend to avoid it in soup.)
I love celery sticks with peanut butter.
I used to do that but I don’t eat peanut butter anymore. Also did cream cheese, which is okay but I’m not a huge cream cheese person. Unless you turn it into cheesecake…preferably cherry.
omg – you had to post that picture. I’m drooling. My plan was to make a peach pie this weekend… but…
🤣 Hi AJ! I’m here. It looks like people are on summer vacation. Hope everyone is enjoying their day.
I’m still slug-a-bedding. I’ve read all the news, (ugh) so I should get up and make some breakfast. I’m hoping to talk to my dad today. I haven’t been able to talk to him since last Sunday. He is still in the hospital. He doesn’t have an infection, which is good, but they still haven’t decided on an approach to remediate the aneurysm. I feel like they are stalling because of his age and other medical issues. But something has to be done. It’s very upsetting and frustrating.
I might also just stay in bed all day and knit and binge Resident Alien. It is really funny and I like Alan Tudyk. I’m knitting my niece’s Christmas socks, sparkling rainbow, self-striping yarn in a heel-less sock so that she can still wear them as she keeps growing. They are really fun to knit – mindless – and they make me happy.
I hope the hospital decide on a course of action and that your dad get well soon.
Sending good thoughts and healing purrs to your dad and to you!
Resident Alien is a hoot. I love Alan Tudyk so much. Be sure to watch the opening credits closely–they’re hysterical. I’m knitting mindless hats to give away, and it’s great fun to just churn them out.
Yes! I know how this goes as my Dad had a similar problem. Prayers!
Thanks everyone. I just talked to my dad and then my sister for translation. He’s doing really well, all things considered. They decided to go through a vein in his arm and put in a stint and wrap the aneurism. (I can’t imagine what that means). At any rate – he has no pain from an incision and feels great. The other option was to do major surgery opening him up. I’m assuming they didn’t want to considering all of the other issues he has: blood thinners for fake heart valve, pace maker, mini strokes, etc. So fingers crossed it helps and that it lasts. He has to stay in the hospital a few more days for recovery and monitoring. Hopefully he’ll be home at the beginning of the week.
Sending even more good thoughts and purrs! Keep us posted.
Thanks DebG❤️
After the shoebill stork in the post earlier in the week, I got this video on youtube.
The Most Polite Dumb Bird on Earth
I love this birb.
I was a little shocked to learn they’re only up to 15 pounds; I looked it up on wikipedia just to make sure the narrator didn’t misspeak. They look huge. I know birds are generally lighter than they look, but still. (I got to hold a young cockatoo once and I was surprised it felt like nothing. Also they have really soft feet. His owner put him on my hand and he ran up to my shoulder. He wanted my ear buds. 😄)
Wow! Great info to have! No idea they were so benign? Cos they look, and sound, like the harbingers of doom! Love the bowing! And yes, I’d imagine it weighed a LOT more!
These birds are so cool. I can’t believe how light they are – Butch weighs 15lbs.
Hello everybody, I’ve been up since 6 o’clock but I was doom scrolling.
I’m feeling a lot better, I’ve actually been out a few times this week. We even went to have breakfast at my favourite restaurant yesterday and then went grocery shopping. It was great to get out of the house after nearly a month but I did get really tired.
It’s wash day her too but the cats won’t get to sleep on warm laundry because it’s sunny today so the clothes will be hung out to dry.
Have a great weekend all.
Glad you’re feeling better. It takes a long time to get one’s energy back after an illness–my cold was two weeks ago and I’m only now back to my normal self.
Really glad to hear you are on the mend!
Any other Green brothers fans out there? I learned this week that Hank Green made an app called Focus Friend; you have a little bean who likes to knit but if you use your phone during your focus time it distracts him and his knitting will unravel and he will have to start over. And that makes him sad. He also has a little room and when he knits enough socks you can trade them for decorations. If you get the paid version he can also make scarves which are worth more. 🧶
Here’s John’s take on it.
I love how proud and supportive they are of each other. (Side note: he mentions Keats & Co. coffee which is one of their http://www.good.store companies (all profits go to charity). I have tried the Breakfast Blend tea and it’s really good. When I diminish my tea stash I will get some more. Which at this rate will probably be next year. Yes, I have a lot of tea.)
You can name your bean whatever you want but for now I kept the default “Bean.” Any suggestions?
How about Ima Lima Bean? (though I actually do not like them–the only bean I don’t enjoy)
I hadn’t heard of these guys, and I’m not at all familiar with focus apps because I have the opposite problem. But anything that gets kids engaged with non-phone activities, and that perhaps gets them interested in things like knitting–YES OMG YES.
Also this video is really funny.
I hate lima beans. My mom used to make those mixed veggies that had them and I would separate them and dump them on her plate.
Laundry helper looks so very comfy–and adorable!
This weekend is really weird and to be honest a little unsettling. I have mid-afternoon things going on today and tomorrow, haircut today and knitting “class” tomorrow. They’re unsettling because of the scheduling–I get so worried I’ll forget, it’s hard to focus on all the stuff that needs doing. Woe is me. Poor poor pitiful me.
The knitting class will actually be great fun. Friends of a close friend have recently gotten into knitting. Now that they’ve mastered the basics, we’re going to get into the next steps: understanding a pattern, choosing yarn, swatching, etc. I love watching people reach this stage of their knitting journey. And even more, I love to help them take the next steps.
My own next steps are on my weaving journey. In between these away-from-home appointments, I’m continuing my online class on color gradients in weaving. It’s been really informative and the teachers are masters of color.
How is next weekend Labor Day in the US? Hugs to you all.
I tried knitting in 8th grade in Home Ec class. It was frustrating. Tried again as an adult and I just can’t get the hang of it! Which is too bad cos it looks a lot cooler than crochet. *sigh*
We could do Zoom sessions and I bet I could teach you. It’s actually really good for our brains to go through the frustration of mastering something new. Then it’s good for our brains to reach the stage of flow, when we enjoy sessions of pure mastery.
I’m envious of your knitting “class”! Sounds like a Stitch & Bitch to me. We haven’t had one all summer because our schedules haven’t synched. We’ve all been out of town. I’m itching for one though. I need real people in real time to tell me what to do about my mittens! Have fun! 🙂
Morning. Last official weekend of summer in my mental calendar. Next weekend is first official weekend of autumn, and the start of my favourite time of year.
Little Laundry Helper, I don’t have any laundry to do today, but you are welcome to come and occupy the large pile of unfolded fabric in my basket.
Little Duckie is doing well, and is singing the song of her people to the chickadees outside. They are singing back to her, and it’s rather pleasant noise.
We are giving serious thought to purchasing some property on Vancouver Island. Apparently it involves a half finished castle as an house, and requires the purchaser to complete the building. We could afford the purchase price, but the building costs would be an issue. Much of my family would be involved.
Today will be spent doing little finishing up things.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Oooooo, yes! Purchase a castle! Send pics!

Okay – what is this!? It looks amazing!
Castles are always worthwhile investments, IMHO.
