And finally: RIP Maru
Maru, the famous boxaholic cat, passed away over the weekend. His death was announced by his human on her blog Saturday. Thanks to Andrew Y. for sharing the post and for all the Maru videos over the years. Here’s Maru’s oldest video on YouTube, from 2008.
🙁 Caturdays will never be the same. I just think about Hana calling for Maru but not being able to find him now.
Her voice has popped into my head every so often the past couple days. 😢
No, they won’t. I can’t bear to think about Hana calling for Maru. I’m so sad. I can’t watch his videos now.
Still verklempt over the news. Their whole household will need a long time to adjust.
yeah, ouch, i’m not ready for a world without Maru-chan.
Like my dad who “hates cats” but let Stars go to bed with him every night for 16 years…
Or my dad, who wasn’t the nicest to his mom’s cats growing up, letting my cat Charlie sit on his lap when he came to visit. We have a photo of my dad reading a newspaper with Charlie curled up with him.
My aunt and uncle’s cat always went straight for my dad at family parties.
Maru could be such a doofus!
The tiny, smol, kitties are breathtaking!
The blue eyes! A couple of the black/white kitties have them. I hope they get to keep them!
Internet won’t let me post the pic!
I’ve been worried about Maru for a while based on some things I was noticing about him in the videos. Mugumogu must be so heartbroken, along with poor Hana and even Miri. Maru was definitely a unique cat. He will be missed.
I can’t even…
gaaaahhh there goes my brain
I know! Sooooo many adorable kitties!
I love the cathedral door’s cat hole more than I can say. Also Bellatrix and her gorgeous octet.
I’m thinking, how did you pay cats with coins? Maybe purchase some cheese or fish with it instead.
Love that its still apparently being used.
I know this has nothing to do with today’s post, but I just wanted to update.
Hubby and I talked, and while we both miss having an annoying little budgie around, we’re going to put off getting one until next year. There is a small but probable chance that we may need to move soon, and we’d rather not put a smol birb through that stress.
If we get another budgie, it will be as close looking to Duckie as possible, and we will keep the same name. The only difference would be that our next one will be a boy, to eliminate the stress of egging.
We are both heart sore, especially after burying her yesterday. It was in my parents’ garden, under a tree that is simply lousy with chickadees.
Take your time, you’ll know when its the right time.
Give yourself the space and time to process your loss.
{{{hugs}}} to you and hubby.
Same.{{{hugs}}}
Thanks for the update Duckie. Sending you many hugs
Thank you for telling us, Duckie. You will know when the right time comes along for you.
Sending healing thoughts your way, with puppy kisses from Bibi.
lots of hugs to you both
Dear Duckie, Thank you for the update. May I, very gently, and with much love – ask, what happened? And if you can’t answer or don’t wish to, I understand. I was so shocked to hear about little Duckie as there was no whiff of distress for her. I am so sorry for your loss. As many have already stated, I loved hearing Duckie stories. I’m glad she has a beautiful resting place in the company of more of her winged friends. Sending lots of hugs – Tara
She seemed okay on Friday, but she did not leave her sleeping corner except to drink water. She would not touch her food, not even cracker, so I had a feeling she might be going. She was seven this spring, so she had a good length of time, and definitely had a good life. When I got up on Saturday, she was laying on the cage bottom, so she must have fallen asleep forever, just as I was hoping would happen.
Thank you for sharing this story. I didn’t know what the life span little birdies is. She had a wonderful life with you – and she was so sassy! Sending lots of hugs again, Tara
The “Dads Don’t Want Pets” article on Bored Panda is super splendid! It is TOTALLY worth seeing all 100+ photos!
(At the end you can click to see an ad to continue, but there really is no ad, it just spins a little.)
My deepest condolences to the entire Mugomogu family!
Maru nooooo!
I’m going to miss Maru.
