Now you can introduce your pet to the thrill of living in a dystopian surveillance state with their very own pet ID card issued by Hong Kong SPCA. It’s not a legal ID, but it will grant your pet priority access to all dog parks and napping sunbeams. (via Dana D.)
Pet State controlled ID card? Very Orwellian.
I am still reading 1984 (sorta; I took a break to read something else that came in at the library) but it’d be easier if I had that little Yorkie, or the adorable kitty in the next slide, curled up in my lap.
I read it 40 years ago, I remember the gist of it but I admit the details are fuzzy.
The hammie is so ridonkulously cute, I can barely stand it! 🐹
Make sure to scroll through the images, people! Lots of cute! The cats do not look impressed.
Yeah, the comments make clear that this is not a “real thing” in Hong Kong. It doesn’t confer any rights or privileges. However…the pics of pets are darn cute!
I would hope it’s not a real thing. Giving your political enemies the power to disappear your pets via a handy database of pet IDs is not cute.
Uh…NO. Didn’t even think of that!
I can hear my overlord telling me that
SHE DON’T NEED NO STEENKING BADGES!!
LOL!! Good one!
Now that they have one, where will they carry them, lol?? Aside from some like possums, koalas, nobody has pockets!
You can get these fake pet ID tags for the USA, too.
https://www.mypetdmv.com and various other web sites have them. All for folks with more money than sense.
Hat tip to Mike for the headline, tho!
P.S. “Pubity”? Eww.
Yeah, that name does not seem like a great idea.
