When you’re that cute you don’t need anything else!
This is true👍🏼
I’d very much like to cuddle that scarecrow.
Also good point about not being zombie bait!
Just got back from stoating. At least the rain mostly stopped before I had to go out (mostly mist now). This scarecrow looks very huggable.
I stoated on Sunday. Hoping very much to hear encouraging news after Election Day. These are scary times. Cute baby stoat is good medicine.
Dropped off my ballot on Tuesday–we have mail-in voting here!
We do, too, but you have to request it.
They mail out ballots to voters, after a practice ballot. Then they email when they’ve received and counted your ballot. Just got word that mine was counted. I love this system.
You can request a mail ballot just for the current election or for all future elections (until you tell them otherwise). They did send everyone a mail ballot for 2020; I don’t live far from the county elections office so I just dropped mine in the box there. I don’t remember if I got a notification but you can check the status of your ballot online.
They send a sample ballot a week or two before the election and when you go to vote they can just scan the bar code and pull up your info (though she didn’t scan it tonight, just looked up my name and verified my address and birthdate, and had me sign the screen and the little ticket you give to the person at the machines). Since I already knew how the ballot was laid out it was very quick to make my selections.
I am jealous! In Indiana there is no mail-in vote unless you can prove you are physically unable to get to the polls, and you have absolutely no help!😠
There is no such thing as a “sample ballot”. You can find a website that will let you see what it looks like. We vote next Tuesday.
I do in-person voting because my polling place is easy to get to, my office hours are flexible, and I enjoy the ceremony of it. Virginia’s got pretty good early voting options, though.
I like going in person, too (usually). It’s also just easier than making sure you don’t miss some little detail or signature spot that’ll get your ballot thrown out. My regular polling place is the big event space at iPlay America (so if I wanted I could go play some games or go to the bar after…). So there’s lots of parking and it’s five minutes from my house. There are I think six districts that vote there, and I always forget which one I’m in (and it changed a couple years ago, I think; I used to be in four, now I’m in three). Thankfully that info is on the sample ballot (but one year I didn’t have it and had to look at the map on the wall). So it can be a little crazy and loud if it’s busy, but I’ve still never taken more than 20 minutes or so to vote.
This is the second time I’ve done in-person early voting (not even sure it was an option before last year). The last day for that is Sunday and you can go to any of the polling places in your county. I went to the library headquarters after an appointment nearby (they even sent a text a few days ago informing me of the closest option to where I live with a link for more info). Last year I voted on Halloween (hoping it would be less crowded because people would be busy with trick-or-treating). I saw a minion and a banana (both poll workers) there.
He reminds me of Tom Baker’s Puddleglum from the old Narnia movie “The Silver Chair”.
