Good morning everyone on this the last day of February!
We actually are getting rain today here with a balmy 5C/42F, finger’s crossed that the worst is over because I am so done with the cold and snow!
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Good Morning!
Georgiana, you and me both! I’m done with the ice. I haven’t been able to ride my bike for a month! Not to rub it in, but it is supposed to be almost 57F/13C in Philly today.
I am going mattress shopping today. It is looooong over due. I’ve been having lower back problems for a long time. Last night I brought in the patio furniture cushions and slept on the floor and what do you know, my lower back is MUCH happier this morning. I’m going to IKEA and then the other Big Chain that is in the same complex and we’ll see what’s what.
At work we are working on an exhibition about how the Declaration of Independence came to be written; all the documentation of what folks were thinking that lead to its writing. We don’t have to borrow anything, we have it all, which is so humbling. It’s my boss’ brain child, and he’s going to reproduce a lot of the broadsides that were printed. We want to hang them, like broadsides fluttering in the breeze, directly on the gallery walls. He’s very excited about this, and I’m excited because it was my idea. 🙂
I hope everyone else has a nice weekend planned!
I don’t think you can get any comfortable furniture you can lie down on at Ikea, especially if you like sleeping 8 hours a night.
Toys for lonely Japanese monkeys, sure.
But it seems their stuff is made for the type of customer who needs furniture for guests they don’t want to stay over for more than a night or two.
I’m long, LONG overdue for a new mattress and was on the verge of buying one when my finances were thrown into disarray by the Great Roof Repairs Emergency of 2025. Mercifully things are almost back to normal now my state pension has started, although sadly I’ve had to cancel the holiday I rescheduled from last May (the ‘Obby ‘Oss festivities in Padstow, Cornwall). Perhaps I’ll be able to go next year.
I love your Declaration idea. It’s a good time to remind everyone of our shared history.
Cat mode activated! And boop to that lovely snoot. Glad to hear the weather is warming up in other people’s locales. I won’t incite a riot by saying how warm it’s been here but let’s say it’s been very summerlike, I’ll probably wear sandals and a t-shirt today. Alas this weekend seems to be the last few days of the unusually warm weather before going back to normal temps.
Yesterday I was so befuddled by who knows what, I actually forgot that it was payday. 🤦♀️🤷🏻♀️ So first thing today is banking business transferring money from one bank to the other. Afterwards, our local art museum is having their 100th birthday bash and the whole city is invited. Free admission, activities, performances, and of course cake! Tomorrow will be errands, maybe a little cleaning, and possibly a drive out to see the desert blooms. Have a great weekend everyone!
Aww, what a cutie!
Snow is starting to melt but it’s gonna take a while for the mountains around my complex to disappear. Hopefully it will at least be warm enough to turn the side road out of here back into two full lanes again. Today’s high is supposed to be 50F.
I am tweaked-my-back-standing-still years old.

I, too, am long overdue for a new mattress. New York Times’ Wirecutter’s most recent mattress article recommends the Saatva Classic for my sleeping style, but they are a little pricey (but would be worth it if it’s really that good) and I can’t test it out (unless I want to go to NYC, which I do not; they have some showroom stores but the closest to me is in Midtown Manhattan). I was looking at the bedframes on their website but I don’t think any of them would fit in my room, unless I get rid of one of my dressers (which I actually do want to get rid of but I’d have to replace it with something). Might have to stick with my old-school metal frame. Maybe I’ll look for a thin headboard just to make my room feel a little more grown up and put-together. But I need to clean up first.
The good dogs are making good friends.
Also came across these slippery characters the other day.
PS, apparently Ashley Furniture and Raymour & Flanigan both have a mattress sale going on right now.
Good Saturday morning, everyone, and a special Happy Birthday to me!
Boop-able kitty has gorgeous eyes.
Things were bad last week, but I can say with some confidence that they are finally getting better.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
🦛🐦🐑🐑‼️
Happy Birthday Duckie!!! I hope you have a wonderful day 🥳🌞😘
Happy birthday! And I’m glad things are getting better!
Happy Birthday, Duckie! Looks like you’re going to have some nice (if chilly) weather for it!
Many happy returns of the day, Duckie!
Happy birthday Duckie!
Happy birthday, Duckie! (one day late) May you be healthy, creative, and satisfied in all areas of your life!
The void gets a bath.
Pumpkin probably has an orange sibling named Sooty.
I hope so!
Gorgeous kitty! And except for his “what the duck” moment, surprisingly chill.
Well, I think if I was placed on a drainboard, thoroughly plastered with water and soap, tried to escape and then got retrieved and plunked down on a duck, I’d be having a “what the duck” moment, too.
Reboop initiated! I love to boop kitties.
Doing a bit of a reset here too–my dyeing adventures yesterday left unsightly blots on my kitchen island, so I cleared off everything and gave it a good scrub. I mean EVERYTHING. It’s funny how much bigger the island looks when it’s not covered in junk.
It’s supposed to get up to 70F today, which is not normal for Colorado at this time of year, but then they’re predicting snow for next Friday. Sigh. My sinuses have gone on strike.
Hope you all are well. Hugs.
Trying to create glow in the dark wool for weaving.
There’s actually fiber dyed that way. I’ve seen it at the Estes Wool Market. Let me scout around for the dyer’s name.
