Bumpy the baby hippo had a bumpy start in life. Orphaned at only a few days old, he was still huddled with his mother’s body when rescued. Now he’s getting expert care, swimming joyfully — and sleeping safely. Read more about Bumpy here.

Every time I get an email from Sheldrick Wildlife, I first scan it for news about Bumpy. I luff him so much.

Then I read more carefully for the heffalumps. It’s such a great organization.

Aww Bumpy had a bumpy start to life but so happy he’s at the best place to grow up (aside from being with mom). And those keepers! Definitely shoo-ins for Men of Cutetropolis awards.

PS In my next life, I want to come back as a hippo. Most people consider their excess weight and wrinkles adorable unlike when you’re a human.

    We haven’t seen a good baby-hippo-flippety-ears in a while!
